Blogger Vs Wordpress?

I know this has been covered before but I was wondering I have a blogger.com blog because it was easier to set up at the beginning.
Know I understand that blogger can't do trackbacks like wordpress. I'm still new to blogging so can I get your opinions on which system is better or can I have both with the same content?
Need some blogging love.

Neither one is Google friendly in the sense that they are SEO friendly. At least with WP you can edit the code or add plug-ins that make the software work better.

WP is my first choice, but I still use blogger for link back strategy to my WP blog as well. My advice is set up your own WP blog on your own hosting, since this allow you to have full control of your blog and need not worry your blog deleted by Blogger.com. WP is much more powerful, more interative and more flexible as compare to Blogger blog. There are many plugin and theme you can play around with your blog.

Normally I will use different articles but similar topic, or you may just spin the article by 20-30% to make it unique.

I started out using Blogger but then tried Wordpress and discovered it was a better fit for me. It seemed to be simpler to use in all regards. I don't even think about using Blogger now.
Best to try them both before you decide. A blog is so easy to set up it shouldn't take you long to figure out which is the best for you.

    Wordpress is better...
on of the big advantage of WP there are many programmers and designers working hard to come with new plugs-in, new themes to make blogger life's easier..

      I highly recommend Wordpress Self-hosted.

I would rank the blog services I have used in this order:
      1. Wordpress Self-hosted (Best)
      2. Blogger.com (Not very good)
      3. Wordpress.com (Horrible)
Basically, Wordpress self-hosted give you much greater control over your blog. Wordpress.com, however, hardly gives you any control.

I endorse this post in its entirety.

I started my blogging life on Blogger.com, and after a year I put my first self-hosted Wordpress blog up...I will NEVER go back! Blogger is useful for "quick attack" blogs if you're trying to keep up with hot trends, and of course for back linking, but once you've run a self-hosted WP blog...well, it's the difference between hitching a ride with someone that's going in the same general direction you need to go in or driving your Camaro there instead.

Easiest way is to use a host that has Fantastico installed for 1-click (or is it 2) install. Hostgator is just one of many examples.

    Hello!

I have used both systems and find that WP is by far much better to use, IF you are hosting your own account. If you are doing affiliate marketing and you want to use a FREE version, I would suggest sticking with Blogger/BlogSpot just because they are not as strict on affiliates, but who knows if that may change....so keep an eye open for that.

Over all, host your own site its much safe that way. I don't want to be accused of spamming, so if you need a good but affordable host, I use one that offer a FREE 30 day trial and then is 5.00 per month for unlimited domains. Send me a PM if interested.

Anyway, I really hope this has helped..

    Good luck!

It all depends for what purpose you're creating a blog. If it is an "authority" blog or a "Money site" blog, then you should definitively go with Wordpress. Of course the self hosted Wordpress (WordPress › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform). In case you need to set some quick niche blogs to create backlinks and other tactics for traffic creation, then blogger is the way to go.

I agree Chad. Everything I've read about backlinking recommends this strategy.
I self host wp and use blogger for backlinks.
I am not sure if the self hosted wp blogs need to be updated as frequently as all the updates are cranked out. Not too bad for 1 or two sites but a killer when you have 200 wp blogs
I do use many social bookmarks too.

The only way for you to truly answer this question is to try both yourself. I'm sure if every Warrior replied to this thread, 99% would most likely say WP over Blogger. However this is THEIR opinion and what works best for THEM.

For me i love blogger and still use it everyday. I tried wordpress.com, didn't like it and then i went to self-hosted WP. I hated it! I don't know what it is, but i seem to turn into a complete quiverring, technological idiot whenever i approach Wordpress and i just can't get my head around it! I know of others who feel the same, but we are very much in the minority! Now i host my blogs, sites etc at Typepad. Still a PR 7 platform and essentially very easy.

But as i have mentioned, this is just MY opinion and therefore just another opinion from another warrior. The best way to find out what works for YOU is to test both and then make a decision!

The problem with blogger is that your are not building traffic and indexed pages to your own site.

If something happens in the future, your blog could disappear for no reason or some new policy change.

Wordpress is loved by google and there are tons of plugins you can use to customize it for your own needs.

          I would recommend Wordpress.

Use both, create your WP blog then have the Blogger blog to point to it, Google loves all things Google so it makes sense they would index the Blogger blog sooner than your WP.

I'm trying this now with my blogs to see what happens.

                  Wordpress!!!

Why would you risk Google deleting your blogger account. They can because they own the content of it...if you read the fine print they can, at their discretion, delete your entire blogger account.
And they did to a friend of mine. After 2 days on the phone...she got nowhere but frustrated.

Thank you Alexa and i owe knowing this to you. I believe you pointed this out in a similar thread a few months back...and for that i'm grateful (Even though as you mention, it is blantantly obvious as you are offered a choice whenever you wish to publish a blog!) However, i'm now a converted Typepad fan and use blogger sparingly.

i did a post about this i would do wordpress over blogger because blogger is a site that's all about making a name for there self and no one takes blogger serious any more the first thing people do when they see the domain name + blogspot they click away because they may think that you are new to this so they dont wanna waste they time reading what you have to say but wordpress has the tool for you to be successful when it comes to your blog it just the matter of the hard work you put in .

In a span of one month, jan 8 to feb 7, 2010, a total of 46 replies have been made in this thread. Allow me to summarize what has been posted.

Twenty three people preferred wordpress due to plug-ins, flexibility, user friendly, themes, templates and control. They criticize blogger for being rigid, inability to create traffic and possibility for a blog to disappear from new policies.

Five people considered blogger, few hosts blogs without using wordpress anymore but majority of blogger users take advantage of backlinking. This is supported by thirteen warriors who suggested to use both wordpress and blogger. A detailed instruction to first create a wordpress blog and mention the link in a blogger blog was enumerated.

Surprisingly, a preference for a self hosted wordpress came out as a third option rather than just using either wordpress or blogger.
Five months has surpassed since anybody added a reply. Perhaps all replies prior to mine had enlightened readers on which blog site to use.
