Hi,

I'm interested in making a video with an audio component that uses PPT or some other slide presentation program, but I don't know how.

What program is the best for internet viewing?

Does anyone know how to make that kind of video? One that allows a running commentary on-between-through slides or series of slides and coordinates slide with audio without variation.

Does anyone know how to do a Flash video?

Can anyone tell me where to go to find some good tutorials about this subject? Nothing too technical as I won't be able to understand all of it.

Does anyone have a recommendation about which video creation program to use?

I'll appreciate any help and answers!

Thanks,

Art

It sounds like Camtasia is what you need.

I use it myself and it's very good, easy to use and pretty cheap.

Yes, camtasia is excellent. They have a free fully-functional 30 day trial available.

camstudio is free, but no where near as sharp.

It is pretty straightforward, and you can produce videos in various formats.

Also try Cam Studio. It is an open source free video too which is excellent.

    Hello,

I use Koolmoves wich is easier to understand than Flash from Adobe.

Take a look to GFX Video Writer by Big Mike.

Thank you ALL for your suggestions and help!

Do any of the mentioned programs allow an automatic video start when the page loads, or is that just a given with any video creation program, or is that more having to do with the page script (does anyone know how to write that html)?

I really appreciate all of your help!

Try this, change the object values to:
        value="autostart=true

You can use JW Player and set it to autostart=true

The auto-start is a function of the player, not the video itself. If you use Camtasia (which I would recommend, despite its price tag - remember the 30 day free trial) you can have it publish the video with all the HTML code you need for your web page, including the auto-start code.

I definitely agree with Chris. I really don't know why so many people overlook windows moviemaker, it really works quite well with slide-based and even regular videos. For the purposes of many beginners and intermediate marketers, it offers a lot and there's no need to step up to camtasia unless there is some specific feature from it that you really need!

Once again, THANKS to one and all for your replies!

I've been busy at all the sites of the products you've mentioned. I've read so much in the last couple of days that my eyes are crossed!

Camtasia looks great, but I can't afford the price tag right now. Maybe I'll be able to get it after my first product takes off! I'm definitely trying the 30-day free trial.

A special 'thank you' to Bill and MJ for answering my last question about autostart!

I appreciate all of your advice and the spirit of helpfulness here at the WF! Way cool!

    Thank you,

    Arthur

      Hi,

I'd like to get as many WF opinions as possible on this subject so I've added a Quick Poll to the thread.

PLEASE take a few seconds to add your vote!

It looks to me like most of the responses endorse Camtasia software, but for a newbie $299 is a bit steep for video-making.

I sure would like to hear from as many Warriors as possible as I value the opinions I read in this Forum!

If you'd like to add a Post and expand on your Poll answer, please do so!

      Thanks,

      Art

You can get a 30-day free trial version. Any marketer who takes action, creates videos, and sells them will be able to pay off the software at the end of the trial. I've upgraded 3 times (spent over $600) and that software has made me a ton of money.

Warning: The new Camtasia 7 is a resource hog. You'll want a fast computer with lots of RAM.

Well, I didn't vote... because you try to compare apples and oranges.

There are screen capture programs (think of it as a "camera" on your computer capturing what's on your monitor) and there are video editing programs listed there.

If you just started and don't want to spend: use Camstudio for capturing and Windows Movie Maker for editing. WMM is there on your PC, comes with Windows . Eventually, you can make the audio separately with Audacity (free software).

And here is a nice little trick I learned somewhere: if you make a PowerPoint presentation and you don't need any fancy effects, just save the slides as .jpg images (yes, there is such an option in it); then open WMM and add the images to the timeline; record audio with Audacity; adjust the length (in seconds) for the pictures to be shown... add some title, credits, whatever and there goes your video.

Hey ArtBiz, here is a list of the top 5 free screen recorders. I hope this helps:

Top Free Screen Recorders to Record Your Screen Activities

Furthermore, after you are done recording, here is a great site that will allow you to edit all kind of things to make the video exactly like you want it.

Pixorial, Inc - Convert, Preserve, Organize, Produce, and Share Home Movies and Videos on DVD or Hi-Resolution Downloads

Hope those links are what you are looking for.

Camtasia is what you're looking for IMHO. You can use the "produce video" to convert you video into flash.

If you're tight on cash, here's a combination I found to make camstudio work a lot better.

    danielwatrous.com/internet-marketing/how-to-make-camstudio-work-use-avs

I also think it's worth pointing out that while windows movie maker can do great things, it can't create screen capture videos and it can't compensate for the somewhat compressed audio stream that I end up with in some of my camstudio videos. For that I use Sony Vegas.

There's a lot more detail in that article. Let me know if you need more ideas/examples.

  • At first, I was using CamStudio, which is pretty good for a free open source program, but I eventually bought Camtasia and it works amazingly.

I'll throw a little love out to Jing. I use Jing Pro, which is about $15. It syncs with Screencaster, so you don't have to worry about hosting the video and eating up bandwidth. The downside is you can't make a video longer than 5 minutes, but that actually helps me in what I do.
