Hi.

If I come across a youtube video that would be of use on my site, could I just use it or is there some form of copyright laws to stop it?

Thanks.

Jim.

Nyahh, as long as you're just embedding it using the
links provided by youtube there's no problem..

In fact you're helping the vid creators by making it
    go viral..

    All the best,

I usually don't post much, but if it's on YouTube I am pretty sure it's fair game. If you want to be safe, message the account owner asking permission. Also, make sure that it CAN be embedded, it's very annoying when I click play on a YT video and it says

"Embedding disabled on request. Click here to watch on Youtube."

if you are using it for commercial purpose.. I would double check to make sure even if you are simply embedding the video..

I dont find any problem unless eg. a video of some nike, sony, etc. Once I used sony's music in one of my video in youtube, sony edited the video and add their subtitle saying the music is theirs...

No idea how they found it, I too never knew it was sony's music.

Youtube wants you to use it. That's what the embed codes are there for. In fact, looking for related videos and creating blog posts (adding a few paragraphs talking about the video content) out of them is an excellent way to create new content.

Yes, it is fine. Every user has the option to disable the embed feature for ANY of their videos. If the embed code is there then they are giving you rights to use it.

Instead of using someone else's why not just make your own. Utube is excellent for advertising your website. My first video I done was rubbish but it still got hundreds of views and i had my website address on full display all the way through the video for all to see.
