Which one of these domains...

Which one of these do you all prefer (if any). In case you missed my last post for my other failed domain name, its for a blog offering free IM tutorials, tips, etc.

ProfitAnswer.com (profitanswers is taken though - don't know if this would get confusing)

IMSprout.com - I would explain this more but I would rather see if people get it without explanation.

ProfitPeer.com - sounds too salesy?

Thanks again for your input

I don't mean to sound cute, but if you want a site for offering free IM tutorials, tips, etc. how about calling it Free IM Tutorials And Tips? As I write this that domain is not taken, and it would likely accrue more searches than IMSprout.

I agree with tomcam that it's better if your name is unambiguous but not necessarily as long as tomcam suggests.

I wouldn't go with any of those you picked.

I have been trying to come up with something catchy as opposed to keyword dense, hopefully make it more memorable as there are so many variations of IM tips types of domains :/.

I agree with what you are saying R. Rapp. I personally feel you would be better off creating a site where it would be remembered because of the catchy domain name + great content (this is a must obviously).

The one that stands out most to me would have to be ProfitAnswer.com. As to whether it would potentially get mixed up with ProfitAnswers.com, I personally don't see it as a huge issue mostly because although the domain is taken, the site doesn't exist. If you were competing against another make money online site, then it might be troublesome. Another opinion would be helpful though, as I can't really call myself an experienced "domain buyer" or internet marketer.

My second choice would have to be ProfitPeer.com. It does sound kind of salesy (some very technical lingo there =p), but I see that as a small issue. I like this one because it puts your possible audience on the same level as you in a sense. It's almost kind of comforting from that point of view, knowing that you will be learning with someone rather than being taught. However, this might be harmful to the perception of you; It depends on if you want to be viewed as an authoritative source, or someone of a lesser position. Perhaps ProfitPeers.com? It sounds more like a community site where users can interact with each other, if that's what you're going for.

Last, and least for me is IMSprout.com. I like the concept, but when it comes to the practicality of it, I personally find it hard to connect making money online with flowers.

Anyways, that's just what I think. Hope you found it somewhat helpful.

Thanks guys, and Speedofmoney I appreciate your detailed response!

Just to clarify, IMSprout was meant to imply "growth" so a slogan would be something like "Grow your internet marketing knowledge" or similar

I will take thoughts into consideration. I am a bit too picky but its something I want to develop so I'd hate to decide a month from now that I really cant stand the domain I chose. On the other hand, I am getting so tired of trying to come up with domains I'm almost ready to choose anything.

    Good luck with your choice!

No matter what you choose, the main thing will be to brand yourself. As long as you do that, and provide solid content, you will be set.

Here's the key - Go branding if you have the money to push it. Use keywords if you need seo power. But it all comes down to content. I had a keyword site that was at number one for 2 weeks but because my content wasn't strong enough to stay at the top it dropped out of radar the next index. Google is watching very closely.

They're coming down an parked pages and other automatic sites. everything is going down local now.

    ProfitAnswer.com is your best bet.

work hard and you will get rewarded. It's as simple as that.

You don't need a huge budget to start branding. There are many ways to go about doing it. Simply creating a list that is engaged with you is part of the process.

      And yes, go ProfitAnswer.com!

I like IMSprout the best. Nice imagery, and the graphic/branding possibilities are very good.

I don't like ProfitPeer.com because... okay, this will sound tacky, and I should probably explain that our heat was out all morning and my brain isn't as sharp as it might be...

...It could read like "profit pee-er." (I told you it was tacky.)

Hmm, I think I should stop posting until the heat reaches 65 in here.

I really like profitanswer, I just hate that the profitanswers.com is owned and has been for quite awhile - chances of me getting it are slim, but like someone said on a good note they don't have anything on their site...as long as it stays that way!

I really liked IMSprout too, so I am glad to be getting everyone's opinion before I dedicate the time to branding it and everything.

IMSprout.com easier to brand.. memorable.. unique.. instead of just generic words.. sprout implies growth.. exactly what tutorial is about

@eibhlin: or it may sound like
    profitpeer ==> profiteer

Personally I would drop the "Im" completely if I had the choice, it does not look that good and is always awkward sitting there in a domain title.

What you want to do is come at your idea from another angle, is there any slang that is often said in relevance to what you are marketing such as:

DroppingTheBall.com for an affiliation product with acne (Think puberty)

Everyone in the world goes for domain-names like your-balls-have-dropped-so-now-get-some-acne-cream-from-me.com

Short and sweet and mildly humourous/shocking is the key...make them WANT to find out what the hell your site is about from the title

And if it doesn't work out simply sell the name to a football nut :p

    Thanks again!

Spearhawke: You are really creative! I can see you coming up with some really catchy domain names for niche sites.

I personally chose "IM" because I believe it to be a commonly used abbreviation in the industry. I do agree that looking it looks a little odd, like you are speaking half-proper english. Though I would hope that most of the people into Internet Marketing - which is the purpose of the site would be able to look at that and immediately translate IM to mean Internet Marketing

If I had to pick one of the above I would pick IMSprout.com. As mentioned earlier it is unique and lends itself to being branded with a nice graphical layout.

With that being said, I think the need for another generic "IM tips" website is pretty minimal - needless to say, I think that the WF has pretty much cornered the market on this.

But what I do think is viable (and always will be) are sites with a personal/human aspect.

What I mean is I probably wouldn't go to another site (outside of the WF) to learn general IM tips or techniques - that's covered here quite well - but I would venture elsewhere to see how you - R. Rapp - have applied those techniques. Learning what pitfalls and roadblocks you came across and how you overcame them is COMPELLING and lends itself to developing TRUST amongst your visitors/customers.

So, I think that your best move would be to ditch the generic domains that would get lost in the pile.

Instead of picking a name that you brand, go with something that brands you...

      yourname.com

        Hi Douglas,

Thank you very much for your input! I am actually planning to include a lot of the information you spoke of, as well as tips and tutorials and such

My first choice was to go with my name, I'd like to brand myself as I have been affiliate marketing - marketing other peoples products for quite awhile now, and haven't gotten my name out there. However rebeccarapp.com is taken, so is rrapp.com, and other variations I like - I never realized my name was so popular! Due to that I thought I would go with a more memorable - catchy theme that sounded kind of fun, while giving a small bit of detail about the site that just a name doesn't provide.

        I really appreciate your advice!

We have already covered this, the cheque is simply in the post for KRrapp.com :p (which I still think is a damn good name lol)

I have done it myself with www.sparhawke.com and right now I am simply deciding what to do with it, there is nothing on it but a godaddy hosting page but I might have some kind of hub there to all the rest of my pages...not sure.

By the way Rebecca, did you know that the anagram of your name spells "Crap Car Beep"?

How about affiliating sound systems? :p

    Then again:

    Crap Crab Pee

Maybe anagrams aren't the way to go lol

You should see me when I get started on myself, I know no boundaries lol

I simply link words and sentences, phrases differently to everyone else and come at them from a completely different angle if I can and always have, the one I keep coming back to is simply a joke so don't take it the wrong way. It is simply a play on the syllable.

Here are some of the tools I have been known to use in the past:

    Anagram Maker
    List words ending with aaa

There are of course many more, but just play around with them and see what comes up

(And yes, I have come up with another tonight with 3 empty TLDs for one of the largest companies in the world to affiliate with over 15,000 global searches a month with a very specific keyphrase, can't wait to get stuck into that one lol)

I just wish I knew how to market my skills on a non-happiness/no fee basis lol...

I was just thinking you could have a nice little niche market of creative/humorous domains. Humor is always a good selling point! Not sure how you would market that without owning and then selling the domains though - otherwise many clients may take the idea and run.

Exactly, I know how to come up with names but it is getting people to take them seriously and me seriously that is the hard part lol

Ah well, that is a long way off lol

I do not want anyone else maybe pinching this idea in the interim so have pm'ed you

I was going to vote for profitanswer.com, but when you mentioned that profitanswers.com is already taken, I changed my mind as you may lose some visitors to that other site, especially if they're in a similar or identical niche. The runner-up here would definitely be IMsprout.com, it's catchy and especially if you can make a memorable impression with the graphics and have great content on the site, you should do well with that domain.
