Hey everybody!!

My name is Arlay (its not spelled like that, but its how its pronounced). I just wanted to let my presence be known here and plan on hanging out here a lot to take and give as much as I can. I hope I don't bore you guys with my post though. Just wanted to let everyone know who I am:

The reason I am interested in making money online is because, of course the money. However, I found that that goal is too general. So, my goal is to make money online so I can 1.) Be free, 2.) Travel the world, and 3.) Give back to the community (Im an advocate of peace and wealth to EVERYONE).

Since I am new to this stuff, I would like a mentor of some sort. I would like to be an apprentice of someone and really learn. I do have an MLM business I joined, however, I would like to be in somebody's guidance who has years of experience. What should I do to find that?? any takers?

Thanks,

Arlay Parlay

    Welcome to the forum Arleigh

WorldIsMine has made a valid observation - you've come here saying you are "new to this stuff" yet you claim to already have a lead generation method that nets you 10- 15 new leads per day. Very few newbies can make this claim.

If you do indeed have a method for generating these leads then you are to be congratulated. If however it's just a link to a e-book or product that you are promoting then it's not really the ideal way to start, especially when you are asking to be mentored.

You will find that this forum is populated with some amazing people who have shared a wealth of information and experiences that will really shorten the learning curve for beginning Internet Marketers. I suggest you examine the "All In One" series of threads as they contain a lot of valuable information that is categorized for easy reference.

As for mentoring you it's not likely that you'll get a lot of takers until you start providing some valuable input yourself. I suggest that if you do actually have a method of lead generation that you have created yourself and that is unique it would make an ideal post to gain a reputation and prove your sincerity in becoming a valuable member of this community.

I'm not trying to be harsh or judgmental here, just voicing an opinion with hopes that it leads you down the path to a sucessful Internet Marketing career and to become another valued member of this fine forum. Your desire for mentoring is proof that you are willing to learn, and that's a great beginning.

I wish you all the best for a successful 2010 and I would also advise you to replace your e-mail address with a link to a site to distribute your report (your own site, not an affiliate one!). Aside from being more professional it also reduces the risk of your e-maul address being harvested by spam bots, which are an unfortunate part of working on the Internet.

Bill has given you some solid advice. Just start reading the all-in-one threads and other threads that look interesting to you. You'll learn more (and faster) than any one person would have time to teach you. It's unrealistic to expect someone to take you under their wing just because you asked when you've only made one post.

Hi Arlay, they are right but here is some other advice for you as well!

I don't know what MLM you joined but I just want to urge caution, some of those can be risky and I rarely hear good feedback.

Secondly (other than the sig) very nice introduction post, I look forward to seeing more from you.

In regards to a mentor, this forum is an absolute wealth of information ripe for the picking!

Thank you guys! I do want to apologize for that. I guess you can say i'm kind of a newbie. So i've changed my sig. Would trying to recruit to start an online business be a mistake, or would it be advantageous?
As you can see, I changed my sig line and totally understand what you guys are saying.

Bill, understood and thanks for the feedback. One of my goals for 2010 is having an online business thats consistently making 5,000 dollars per month by the end of the year. You think that's a realistic goal? I sure do!

Anyways, thanks everybody for the input and advice. I believe it will truly help me in this online business world. All-in-one's are my next destination! and R.Rapp, I am not entirely sure if it's MLM but I am more for that it is MLM. If you'd like to do me a favor, you can judge what i've gotten myself into, and maybe it won't be too late.. it would be appreciated.. but you dont have to. In fact, any of you guys can. But im not expecting it.

Anyways.. Thanks again guys and i will always be glad to help you out if i can. This will not be the last time you hear from me though.

To everyone's successes on and offline,

If you want to learn how to earn $300,000 a year shooting portraits... well that I can teach you.
But I can't mentor you in IM as I'm here to learn myself and I'm not qualified to teach you IM yet.

So if you are not already generating bucket loads of MLM Prospects online - don't advertise that you do until you can prove it. (You've already learned that lesson here)

Most MLM'ers play follow the leader and they try to fake it until they make it. You need to become a leader and educate yourself. So congratulations as you've found the best IM forum on the net right here. A few suggestions...

        1) Join the War Room
        2) Google "The Action Machine" and get it for time management and laser like focus
        3) Read "Work The System" The Simple Mechanics of Making More and Working Less
(You can download the first 3 chapters free) at: Work the System ? WTS Methodology
        4) Learn copywriting if you want to be a successful Internet Marketer. It's probably the single most valuable skill any IM person can learn. A good place to start is to read the late Gary Halberts (RIP) Boron Letters at:The Gary Halbert Letter
        5) Stay focused and stop following MLM Dummies. Learn how to market first, then sell shovels to all the MLM Gold Diggers or IM wannabees and you'll never run out of prospects.

    Welcome Arlay,
I started a couple of months back myself - stick with it and don't do what most people do and give up when times get tought. Things are already starting to happen for me and I now have a 5 month road map to my first milestone of $400/day.

Any idea what type of marketing you are going to be doing?

    All the best,
    Paul

Thanks Steveski as I will be working on the five steps. Question: Are you saying that I should leave MLM for now and come back once I get the marketing game down?? Basically, use MLM when I already have prospects?? Just wondering.

      paj_mccarthy:

thanks for the support and actual testimony from a somewhat new guy. 400/day is actually great. I would be quite satisfied with that so congrats bro. Question: where did you start or what did you start with??

If you mean what i am going to market, well I plan on being on the home business arena. I know, its a huge market with all kinds of people doing it, but i believe its a market that never fails. If this is not where I should start, where should i??

What I'm saying is to study marketing and apply what you learn to whatever you decide to market. But remember, some things are a lot easier to sell than others. Far too many times when I began to make a little money with a MLM the company would change the rules (claiming it was for the good of all) and my income would evaporate overnight followed by the company evaporating not long after. And I never did make more than I spent with any of the big MLM's that are still in business today because I'm not very talented, smart, handsome and am not a very good speaker as you'll see if you watch my you tube video. But even with looks, smarts and gobs of talent... Ultimately in a MLM, you own nothing except the skills you learn along the way.

I was a miserable failure at MLM despite being a student of marketing. I was also going nowhere fast for over 20 years as a not very talented photographer who blew all of his money on promoting MLM deals and buying home study courses.

In August of 2004 I moved to Australia and after a few months was down to the last of my savings... less than $500 ... with no prospects of a job in sight and hunger and fear being my primary motivation I finally hit the streets with my digital camera and started applying every marketing tactic I learned over the years to marketing my services as a photographer.

I'm still not a great photographer but I can shoot cute kids and pets because no real skill is needed to make a baby smile or a pet look cute and I discovered that most people would buy. Started doing Antique style novelty portraits, then pets, and recently... fantasy portraits.

Now just a little over 5 years later I can easily book and shoot 20 portrait sessions per weekend and most people will purchase my $795.00 package. It doesn't cost much to shoot digital.... you can burn all the images onto a CD for .50/cents. A complete set of 6x8 inch prints costs under $25.00 and even a 16X20 poster size print on canvas cost me less than $60 to have printed.

You do the math.... and you'll see why I don't chase MLM rainbows anymore!

However, you may be far more talented than me, smarter, better looking, a better speaker and MLM just maybe your ticket. I'm just a simple hick who failed at MLM but who is making it big shooting and selling simple novelty portraits of Kids, Babes and Pups!

        Cheers,
        Steve S

It's unlikely that a fellow person in these forums will drop everything and mentor for free. If you really are looking for coaching, continue to browse the forums and you will begin to see who the big dogs are around as far as being able to successfully coach someone. IM coaching can be very expensive, but with the right coach I have heard its well worth it.

If you do find someone don't just take their testimonial for what they can do for you, ask for references and do your own research to make sure you arent burnt.

Good luck, and I hope you have a lot of success
