Hello Warriors,

Do you know of any alternatives to the 30 day challenge? (free only!)

I.E. Step by step guide to making 1st $ online?

I don't know of anything similar.

30 day challenge is very good though, as long as you don't buy into every last tool and service they pitch.

If you want, I can send you a list of what you can omit from the 30dc and still make it work wonderfully.

    Cheers,
    Shane

      Yes Shane

If you could send me a list of what to omit and maybe your ideas on what to use instead would be fantastic.

      Thanks again!

      Cheers

I'll just post my thought here, for everyone to see.

First of all, let me just say that I think the 30dc is a very well put together course and probably one of the best places for beginners to learn about Internet marketing.

Having said that, in my opinion they do promote a few products too many in the challenge, so here's my personal recommendation:

        - WordPress Direct:
I really don't see a reason to pay for a WordPress blog when you can have them for free.
WPDirect might be a useful tool, but it's certainly not something you want to invest in before you are making money. Setting up a completely free WordPress blog with a good, free theme and doing the basic SEO for it is super-easy, so there's no real reason to pay someone else to do it for you.

        - Traffic Bug:
Haven't tried it myself, but I have not heard many good things about it. From what I gather, it mainly does social bookmarking, right?
I suggest using SocialMarker or OnlyWire for this (both free). If you really want an automated tool, Bookmarking Demon or BookmarkWiz are the better choices, judgeing from reviews and user feedback.

        - PPC:
I think in the 30dc, they start you out with some PPC traffic around day 20 or thereabouts. In my opinion, you should not be paying for traffic just three weeks into your Internet marketing career.
Better to double up on all the stuff taught before: Make some more Squidoo lenses and Hubpages, write some more articles, put some more content on your site.
Nothing against paid traffic, but I think you should have a good bit of experience under your belt before you invest in PPC.

Apart from that, you can follow the 30dc to the letter. Market Samurai, which is also promoted heavily in 30dc (in fact, there's no way you can do the 30dc without Market Samurai) is a really good tool and absolutely worth it, so go for that.

        Hope this helps.

        Cheers,
        Shane

I second Shane's list. I did my first 30DC back in 2007 (I think) and learned a LOT. Since then, I've followed to see what's new. IMO, Market Samurai is THE BOMB. I believe the keyword research tool is included with the free version, but I could be wrong and I would recommend buying this program, as well.

Use any free trials they make deals for, but don't feel obligated to continue them when the free trial is over. IMO, TrafficBug isn't worth paying for.

WPD is for people who are simply too internet-challenged to get a host and put up their own site. I tried it during the free trial and lasted about 3 days, then dumped it and went back to my own host. WPD subscription does include several plugins that are not free, which is part of their justification for using it. IMO, you can do just as well with what's available for free, then pay for plugins you feel are worth the $$ when you've got more experience behind you.

I'm interested to see how the new format works.

As stated the 30 Day Challenge is well known and pretty popular, is there a specific reason you ask for an alternative to it, have you tried it and if so did anything happen for you? Ed's aussie accent is not that bad is it!

    Good luck

    Hi Shane

I spotted your offer of a list of what you can omit from the 30dc and still make it work and would also appreciate a copy. I did start the challenge a while ago, but gave up when I realised they were pitching things I could not afford.

I know the challenge is good and does work, but that put me off.

    Your list would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Ritaj

I just found this site, I actually think from a post on warrior post.

I'm going through the course right now, and it looks similar to the 30DC with more focus on the set up.

The site is at Make Money Blogging! | supersimpleblogging.com

I'm just coming up to the content creation section, so we'll see how it is...

I like it just as much, if not more, so far than the 30DC, even though they are both great!

    Hope that helps,

    Mark.

30dc is the best thing ive ever seen for true newbies. it's what got me started
cosidering it holds you by the hand with videos and pdf's its only a matter of the participants dedication (or laziness) that makes or breaks success

only thing u NEED to use money for is the ten bucks for domain and hosting

samurai is paid after the free trial yes...u COULD use manual means but man alive MS is sooo worth it

wpd isnt necessary true, but it is nice for a NEW NEWBIE to just pop up a blog that is decently optimized with some nice seo plugins right out of the box. then u can lock in a 'bronze' acct, which I have for 19 bucks a month. that gives you access to auto content software and has all your blogs in one spot which is handy

I have done the 30DC. I think it is a great free course. There were a few items I was less than impressed with such as Word Press Direct and Traffic Bug but Market Samurai to me is pure gold. Perhaps you could test it out for yourself and see if it fits within your parameters. In any regard best of luck.

The old site was Thirty Day Challenge, however Ed Dale has now revamped the course and has an all NEW site (and Challenge) for 2010: The Challenge (yes, it's a .co - not .com).

It's kicking off July 1st - check it out, it should have some more great info!

You can do the 30DC without buying all the tools. Most of these tools are just doing things you can do manually. Market Samurai is like that. The keyword research and seo stuff is just saving you time and giving you a nice screen but most of it can be done just using free search engine searches.

Not having money is no reason to not be taking action.
