You can't split test segmented broadcasts in Aweber...or can you?

So I want to send a quick note to folks that haven't downloaded my free report yet and remind them it's there for the taking...

I create a segment in Aweber. It's about 10% of this one list. They did a confirmed opt-in but didn't download the free report.

I want to split test the message to see what has the best open and click through rate for this segment of people who didn't download my report in the first place.

In Aweber when you split test a broadcast message, it automatically uses your full list and doesn't give you the option to use a defined segment. So it was either no split testing to the right target group, OR a split test to the whole damn list. Neither is what I want.

I called Aweber, apparently they weren't aware of this limitation? Maybe one of you knows how to do this properly.

I did a weird workaround to make it do what I wanted. Starting with my target segment, I did a filter on the signup IP address, looking for "contains" and started from 1 and kept going up. I was looking for a result set that was just about half of the total segment. When I found one that was close (who knows if this is possible every time) I saved it off as another segment_1...then with the same query I changed "contains" to "does not contain" for the IP address and created segment_2 from that.

Then it's just a matter of creating 2 emails, assigning segment_1 to one and segment_2 to the second one.

We'll see how this works out for me. Can anyone recommend similar providers that give you the option to do segmented split testing without all this hassle? How about split testing of messages in the auto-responder sequence?

Thanks!

Been a long time since I used AWebber so i may be off.

Could you not export the 10% to their own list?

To try a/b testing you could alternate the sign up process. Each time your page is loaded one of 2 sign up links is shown. Each goes to separate list.
    Monitor stats on each list.

I do not know of any suppliers that have a/b testing in the sequence.
