Squeeze page VS long copy for a membership site

There are more questions really to be answered before I can give my full advice on this.

How are you going to get traffic for example ?

If you are goign to be looking to affiliates to send the traffic then you need to be aware many people don't like to promote a squeeze page.

Unless that is you spend good money to get the software to resolve that, infusionsoft for example will tag subscribers for life with your affiliates id.

If you don't wish to go that route then I would probably suggest copy for your page.

Me personally in the ideal world would structure any product like this -

Free Offer...

Leading immediate to a low priced offer ( $1 trial / $7 - $17 price )

Upsell the buyers on higher priced, relevant products

Then follow up with the none buyers to try and get them to take the low priced offer

I say put up a blog or community feeder site and start generating some good content and adding value to your customers / visitors. Then offer them a newsletter or free product through a squeeze page on every post from your community site / blog.

This way google and other SE's picks up your site because of good content. and you are building trust and value.

I agree with the previous post by avenuegirl. If you're unsure about which to use, test both and find out which produces the results you're looking for.

If you are relatively new to IM (as I am - no pun intended) or if this is your first time with that specific method, don't let the paralysis of analysis set in.

Maybe I can split-test it using Google Adwords. One short copy with a squeeze page, one long copy. Since the topic is weight loss, I imagine the CPC will be quite high, though if I pick very specific words or phrases (since it's weight loss for obese men) I might be able to keep the costs down, since I don't have an unlimited budget.

Video is a good idea - I hadn't thought of using it on the sales page (though I plan on using it in the membership site a lot).

I like the idea of members becoming affiliates (à la Butterfly Marketing from Mike Filsaime, which I have and may use as the platform). My pricing ideas may change, but I've decided on a $1 trial for 1 month (or 21 days) and then $27/month thereafter. If there's a way to get people to pre-pay $197 for 1 year to save money in the long run, I'd like to do that too, but not sure if it's possible (it's not quite an upsell, still working on that). I was thinking of using Clickbank. (had breiefly considered 1shoppingcart but CB seems easier). I already have Aweber for an autoresponder in case that makes a difference.

I already have a personal blog in the niche that I could use to give some free tips and advice and drive people to the membership site. I had considered that as my blog as picked up a lot over the last few months. A free ebook or mini e-course might be a good idea too. Hadn't thought of that.
