Unseen Subscriber Loyalty

I was just looking at an email from Kevin Riley regarding his new Giveaway 2010. I knew immediately that I was going to sign up for it, because after all, who can't use MORE internet marketing information?!

I remembered that I had received an email earlier from someone else regarding the same Giveaway. I know that each giveaway contributor gets credit for how many new people they send to sign up, so my first thought was that I should clear my cookies and make sure she gets the credit.

I realized that I would be willing to do that because I appreciate the valuable information she has given for no charge and that was one small way I could thank her - even if she never really knew that I had done it.

There are several other people that I would do something similar for, and others that I would not give the time of day to. Hmmm, which one are you?

My question is - what are you doing to build loyalty in your subscribers? Would they go to the ends of the earth for you, or at least clear their cookies?

I still consider myself a relative newbie, so I pay attention to these things to see what to emulate and what to avoid in my own projects. I would love to hear any thoughts on the best ways to build loyalty.

In case you are wondering who the object of my affection and gratitude is...

Tiffany Dow!

Kevin Riley - No offense, I love your work, too!

I knew you were talking about Tiffany from the very beginning of your post.

I saw her email for the giveaway and thought it was great. She's one of the few lists I'm subscribed to these days and read all her emails, even if the subject line doesn't interest me. There's only about 4-5 people I do that for.

Plus, I've seen proof that her list is amazingly responsive. She's promoted two of my products in the past and both times has been my top converting affiliate.

One act of loyalty from one of my subscribers that sticks out is a guy from Hong Kong I think it was. He wanted to buy a DVD product (quite a pricey one) and emailed me for my affiliate link as he knew I was an affiliate. When he went through the ordering process he realised he couldn't send money through the shopping cart due to his location, so he Paypal'd the money to the vendor and then submitted a ticket at his help desk requesting that I got credited with the sale.

That sticks out most of all!

Sandra, I think that is kind of harsh. How are Im'ers going to gain ground, if you just sign up for the list and then dont read their emails? Why dont you just unsubscribe? That kind of pisses me off. You never know, you might be passing up content that might be worth gold and give you a new angle. Just keep your mind open.
