Complete newbie! I have no idea where to start!

Hi guys,

my name is Jacob, I'm from South Wales. I've a couple of business ventures that I'm starting up but I'm not quite of the best way to market them so that they reach their maximum potential. I know that I will need to put in a heck of a lot of effort to do this but I'm not sure where to start with marketing my ventures.

just to give you a vague idea of what I'm doing I've listed what each venture is about:

venture 1 is a how to ebook for ecommerce website owners

venture 2 is a service aimed towards webmasters, blog authors and ebook authors.

any ideas of where to start would be great!

    Hi Jacob,

Welcome to the forum! The best way to start is to use the search threads to see what has been already posted about your questions.

Next, join the War Room ($37). The information in there is invaluable.

Do you already have websites for these items? Blogs? Twitter? Facebook? Perhaps a little more information regarding what you already have done would help the warriors to point you in the right direction?

    Hi Jacob,

Well you already have a couple of product ideas.

Before releasing them it never hurts to sent out a survey (just google survey sites) or conduct a poll to help refine your products & make sure you really hit the mark with what your customers will want to see in your products.

P.S. I noticed you're from Ponty. Lovely place. I met my Wife there 10yrs ago in Treforrest.

    Hey Jacob,

A great free place to start is social media.

I suggest Facebook/Myspace/Youtube campaigns targeting your niche.

There are some tools that make this easier at least on
Myspace and Youtube that you can use to increase
    your effectiveness.

You can find loads of great information in the forum by searching what you want to learn about. There are even warriors on here that offer services such as seo and promotion and even building your website for you.

You could use yahhoo questions to also people what they would be looking for in a product such as you are promoting. This will give a good insight into what potential customers may be looking for.

Hmmm...No one is talking about the first problem.

You're marketing products to tell people how to do, what you're now asking us how to do. Are you selling someone else's products, or these will be products you develop?

Am I misunderstanding and you do have experience?

If you don't I'd highly recommend trying a different set of niches to get your feet wet with.

Kansasdragon, in answer to your question, these products are not IM related and they will be my own work. The ebook is relating to starting up a business and the other venture will be centred around solving a problem which many webmasters, bloggers and ebookers face.

Whilst I have the experience to be able to create these products and I have a little experience in internet marketing, I want to be able maximise the potential reach of these products to a global audience. I wish I had this 3 years ago - everything I have ever purchased
or downloaded, bonuses included is right here in one spot.

Our Proven System Guarantees You A Monthly Income For Life

I still can't understand how everything, over 3,000 products
can be included in a $10 membership when many of those
same products are still being sold every day.

Just ignore the hype about some matrix thing. Go to the
PRODUCTS or the Q & A to find out about all the products
it comes with for $10 - no kidding!

This was put together by a Millionaire helping people so maybe
that's why there is so much included.

I am a newbie myself, just been going since early december. But during that time I've managed to get my product and website up and running. Its been a alot of work for me as I wrote my own product and did my own sales copy. I outsourced a few things but did most of it myself. I still spent what I could of Christmas and New Year getting it done.

The focus of my product is to help newbies make that first step into internet marketing. There is so many people out there trying to make that first step into getting started.

What I have found which has helped me alot is to focus on what I want to achieve short term; so when I was writing my guide and doing the website I gave myself a 6 week time frame as I had to fit this in with a regular job. This meant my target was the 31st Dec 2009. I finished on the 6th January 2009. Which was A week later than my goal, I'm not going to beat myself about that, as if I hadn't made that goal then I reckon I wouldn't be writing this post now, as I would still be working on my project.

The other thing is make sure you write your goals down. As so many people don't, it give you that extra focus.

      Hope this post helps.

          Hi Jacob,

Well done for getting your own products created!

To market these products, I'd do the following:

Decide what your sales funnel will be like: For example you going to offer something for free, build a list then go for an upsell? Or just sell the product straight off a webpage and build a list? Or something else? Once you know how your going to sell the product, you then know what webpages to create. A great free book is the "quit your job" eBook by T Shepherd. It shows you how to build your webpages and gives a simple model to follow. There is a review on my blog, and many reviews about the internet.

Secondly, once you've got your webpages up and running, you'll need to drive traffic to them. There are many free eBooks on this forum on how to do this. Here is a link to a free WSO for example:

          Best of luck

You're assuming that I haven't identified my potential customer base whereas in previous posts on this thread I have mentioned the type of customers I am looking to attract:

With my ebook I am looking to help newbies looking to start ecommerce businesses and with the service product I am looking to help webmasters, bloggers and ebook authors by securing their content against copyright theft.

All I am asking is for advice on how to attract highest number of customers possible for each venture.

(I have tried to be as vague as I can as I hate spammers as much as the next person.)
