Good Place to Start for a Noob?

Hello all, I am new here and I feel like a little girl lost in a toy store There seems to be an abundance of information here and I don't even know where to start.
I became aware of (and quickly interested in) affiliate marketing in particular in September of '09. I suddenly found a whole new world filled with an abundance of information, for me it is just a matter of organizing all of that information and executing a plan.
Anyone have any kindly pointers to the noobie?
JBird85
P.S. I have a basic functioning knowledge of affiliate marketing (I have the Super Affiliate Handbook, plus I have been going through the 30 day challenge tutorials)
Oh, and speaking of the 30 day challenge, does anyone here know if there is some kind of discount happening anytime soon for Market Samurai?

The war room is the best place to start.

A lot of the information that you need can be found on here for free. Spend a few days just reading through the posts. You will find a whole gamate of information. Then, like MJ said, head on over to the war room, pay the fee and join. There is an abundance of information on there.

You need to get a game plan. What do you want to do: affiliate marketing, CPA, what. Research each of these and devise your own plan.

    Here's to your success!

I remember when I first started, it was hard to make that first dollar. Just find a system that works for you and stick to that system. One of the keys to making money online is not to get distracted by jumping from one product to the next.

Find a game plan, find what you want to promote and stick with it. There's a chance that you won't see a profit from your work for months. But once you begin to see profit, keep promoting. Once you make enough money in whatever you're promoting, take that money and outsource the work you've been doing and then find another project to do the same thing with.

Eventually you'll have money coming from various sources that you'll begin making some serious money...

As already stated above, reading this forum would be the first step. But then next would be, not to get overwhelmed by so much information, get distracted and try to follow each and every system explained here. Just know that different systems were suitable for different people. You can follow through and set up what's best for you or twist an existing one and make one for yourself.

You just need to focus and rest will follow.

I remember when i first started out my main problem was information overload.

As you stated yourself there is just so much information out there that it is hard to stick to one project, you find yourself jumping from one project to the next before you have given the first project your full attention, then you will keep doing the same and so the process continues.

so i would try to focus on one project give it your all and see what happens, if it makes you money great stick to it and try to take it up a notch

if it does not make you money move on.

As a mentor of mine once told me become a master of 1 thing and not to try to master everything.

That is something i try to stick to.

          Good luck,

          Graham.

        This is very realistic advice.

My main issue in starting; is I don't know how many months you're suppose to wait before making the first dollar.

I have about 217 visits and 42 hops since 12/20/09 ... and still nothing is converting Not sure if my work is being wasted or not ....

Whatever you do, don't get tied up in trying to get rich quick unless you are already rich enough to do so (getting rich requires time and money investment).

My top pick would be to get a blog up and running and run with it until you see its traffic rank breach all boundaries.

Oh, man... Too much information, I think my nose will start bleeding.

Anyway, I'm trying my best to filter out irrelevant information as Razer Rage suggested. And also trying to just stick to one thing just as Graham scass said.

However, with this many opportunities, I am getting confused.

That is the only way to do this Danny or you will end up with lots of half finished projects out there but non of them making you money.

Here is a good place to start. Read and try new methods until you manage to make
money with something. Then just rinse and repeat

Pretend you are a girl in the toy store. You are there with mom, and she is giving you 2 hours to look at all the toys.

So, you have 2 hours, and she has given you an allowance as well, so you will have to pick a toy (or two depending on your allowance) and that is it.

Take your time looking around first and go down as many isles as you can.

These will be the only toys you get for the next month. You have to give them a month before you can buy anything else.

    Hi there,

having the Super Affiliate Handbook is the best investment you could ever have made. My advice would be to focus on a Niche that interests you most or on an area that you may already have knowledge of. That way it will be easier for you to talk about certain subjects rather than work on them from the start.

Once you have decided on your Niche, the next would be to participate in forums such as the one you are right now. The Warrior Forums are the highest in rank (download Alexa Tool Bar), helping you to receive answers to your questions quickly and thus to understand your market's needs. Focusing on your prospects' needs you will be able to provide a solution or at least a recommendation that would best fit as an alternative.

Next would be to decide if you want the freeway or control in your business. Hint! It helps when you have control of your business. By that I mean that you can utilize free blogs or you can have your own keyword rich domain (or brand) and your own hosting accompanied by Joomla, Wordpress or Typepad. I use Wordpress. As a matter of fact I love Wordpress.

Next is the traffic that you would need in order to have sales. How would you want to do this? Would it be Adwords (I would not recommend this for someone who has not experienced consistent sales from article marketing before they start with search engine advertising) or would it be article and/or forum marketing? Hint! The War Room Rocks!!!

    Sincerely,
    Kazooli

PS. Welcome and wishing you all the best.

There is no time limit on when you make your first dollar
some people touch lucky and make their first dollar straight away
others have been online for months and are still chasing that first dollar

remember the saying Rome wasn't built in a day just keep plugging away and don't give up but don't always expect to make money on every project you do.

      Graham.

Since you have abundant information with affiliate market,I think you can start it.Practice makes perfect, but not the forum.Although you may get a lot of information here and execute a plan, the plan itself is also important. And maybe you should learn how to make a good paln and then fight for it.

Get prepared for information overload. I'd suggest coming out with a precise plan of attack, which shouldn't be too hard, given the fact that you already own the Super Affiliate handbook and have participated in the 30 day challenge, and stick with it! Give yourself at least 30 days of consistent and focused effort (or even more, depending on how much time you can dedicate to this daily) and you will see results. Ignore the bright and shiny objects you'll inevitably come across in your email inbox and forums, even though they are going to seem incredibly tempting to you especially when you're facing challenges during the execution of your plan!

    I'm new here too.
I've been reading this forum and related information for 7 days. Let's call it research. This allowed me to define a few niches which I'm interested in. I'm going to make some plan asking questions here and buying some products to learn more about Internet marketing.
So you're not alone. Just don't give up early.
