So one of the article directory owner asked me how he could get more articles submitted to his directory. He wants some piece in the market owned by the likes of ezinearticles, articlesbase and so on.. I gave a thought to it and finally came with some strategies. Best part is it most of it can also be applied to any other business model other than the article directories. So here we go -
1. Make a list of all IM and seo related forums. Start a thread there anouncing your new article directory. Offer them free backlinks in the articles when they submit. Make it convincing like "all quality articles are approved within a day" or so. You can also pay some forum owners to make a thread STICKY.
2. Promote via youtube. Make a video on article submission and how it helps seo and give some killer content. Mention your site in the video. Throw backlinks to video and viralize it.
3. Dominate Twitter. -There are lots of Imers out there at twitter. Make them friends esopecially those in the seo field. Do some JV. IF you dominate twitter and have lots of IMers follow you- it will be awesome!
4. Rank in Google for "submit articles". BUY LINKS for that. you can also rank for a lot of long tail like -
"Health articles directory"
"Finance artices directory"
"Relationship + submit articles"
"Technology articles".
There can be 1000 of long tail variations possible. There are IMers who want to submit to a specific nich direcotry and search this way . Your site will always appear in Google.
5. Learn How "Dvid Riklan" made "selfgrowth.com" popular and profitable.
6. Get a unique twist with your article directory and do some HIGH profile blog reviews done for your site by top Imers eg. by people like problogger
etc. It will be popular in no time.
7. There was an article here on how to get 7000 views with one article. Somebody posted it. Read it and see what you can apply it to Imers traffic. I am forgetting the blogs name lol.
8. Get JV from WF with people with lists- split some advertising revenue with them or anyhting to get the initial traffic coming .
9. Get your article directory to the top of sphinz.com
10. Buy advertising space on sites that are helpful to webmasters and link builders eg.-goarticles.com, bulkpagerank.com etc...
