Someone is using a near identical copy of my landing page and website. They basically cloned the whole site, graphics, everything. They have made very minor changes, such as text at the beginning.

What can I do?

You will see that quite often and some people even teach how to do that. I don't know that there is anything you can do about it. Maybe if you contact them and let them know and ask them to change it, they might.

Just happened to me recently, see if you can get any contact information on the site owner, and try to contact them first to resolve the issue. If that does not work, write a review about it in the reviews section, run some online reports, etc. about the issue.

Try reporting them on the ripoff report of something. That site gets indexed, but be careful of slander if you don't have a legal right to what they are using - it could come back to bite you.

Other than that, it's pretty hard to stop them without a lawyer, which may not be worth the money.

You can keep an eye on them and see if they are successful or not, then steal their keywords with keyword spy, etc

If you have the rights to the information The best thing to do is to send his hosting company a letter stating the following.

      1. Who you are with contact info
      2. Where the info is located on their server.
      3. A statement saying that you do have the rights to the material and the other person does not have your permission to be using the material.

Depending on what the info is worth (or how much the idea of somebody ripping you off bothers you) you may want to spend $50 to get a lawyer to write it up pretty but that is not required.

Some hosts are more quick to act than others but as a general rule they are pretty quick to pull the trigger on this kind of thing(sometimes to quick).

if i had a $1 for every time someone ripped one of my LP's, i'd be sitting on a nice pile of cash.

Try and contact the owner and ask them to remove the site. If they don't, contact their webhost.

If it's a reputable webhost they will remove the site.

I'm sorry - but I don't agree with the people who say you should do nothing. Like everything in life - people will do what they know they can get away with.

If you do nothing, this will continue as the thieves know that nothing will be done to stop them.

It costs nothing to contact their webhost. A reputable host might contact you a few times, asking you to include specific phrases in your complaint until you have put it in the required words.

Or, as ARVolund says, a lawyer could probably help you.

Contact the site owner and ask him to take it down. In some cases, the owner outsources LP design and doesn't realize his designer just lifted someone else's page. In that scenario, they'll usually give you an apology and take it down right away.
