Craigslist is the number one spot for classified right now. Ebay does have a classified listing option that is cheaper and runs longer than an auction listing too. Something to look into.

      Hi,

Back in the early 90s (don't hold me to the date but it's been a long long time) I was a member of the classified club. ClassifiedClub.com I learned a LOT about all the classified ad services and how to use them. They even have auto submit software for free after you pay the yearly fee.

That site is still in business. I haven't been a member for over 10 years but If I was going to get back into Classified ads I'd join again. It's only $29.95 per year. Come to think of it I just might join again to see whats going on in there. It was one of the first things I ever joined online and I do have fond memories of it.

I may make some sweeping generalizations - you'll have to
check for yourself and find your own way...

Free ads sites are mostly used by those who are there because -
they want to sell something - because... they don't have money.

In fact you'll be entering a hurricane, a maelstrom, a colossal
gooey melting pot of incompetent advertising for MLMs,
affiliate schemes, and scams. It's a great place to research
and explore mentality of the vast population of people who
are trying to make money online because they aren't making
    enough in their local economies.

The best place to PUT classified ads is the place YOUR
PROSPECTS go. I would suggest you select prospects who
have some money to spend. When you understand WHAT
people who actually have some money are interested in
buying - then WHERE to place ads becomes simpler
    to determine.

That is the one thing I agree on, but come to think of it in SEO terms, whenever you post an ad in a classfied site which has a good PR, you are getting a backlink. Now whether you consider it worth it to continue with those sites is up to you. I used to use usfreeads once upon a time because it was "supposed" to give me good results in Google. Ultimately I found out I am better off with EZA and my own site. So I quit it

But it's a worthless backlink. Google knows better.

Its all about testing, craigslist is not the place to do it lately I think the glory days are gone pretty much if you want to waste you energy dealing with verifications and having your competitors flagging you.

Test and test some more no one is going to give you their honey hole of the best places to do business, in most cases if they do the spammers will ruin it.
