Entering the IM niche and releasing a course

The deal is that I've been involved in a personal niche for quite a while and I've been building it up for over a year. I'm launching a membership site based around it in the next 1.5-2 months or so. I had about a year of IM training and experimenting and it took another year to build a list and generate interest. Once this is launched, it's going to take me from around $0 to... well, let's just say that it will definitely be full time income

Over the past two years I've learned a lot and I've gotten much better at what I do. I've taken myself from some unknown person to someone who is exposed to thousands of people all the time, and someone who is a business owner.

My plan is to make a pretty extensive course that's a few hours long and reveal anything and everything about my little journey. Techniques from writing articles, to making backlinks, video creation and editing, the whole ballgame. Most importantly, everything will be factual and nothing exaggerated. I want to show people that this CAN be done.

... my only problem is that I don't have a list to sell to! I guess I should start doing that sometime soon.

Why don't you set up a squeeze page on the domain you plan to use for the course and offer a free report? A few advantages here, you can build a targeted list pre-launch, you can pre-sell your course in the report (subtly of course) and you can SEO the domain ready for your main product...

A list would be great, but DO NOT underestimate the power of Warrior Forum it self!

I'm going to get busy on it as soon as most of this other niche is taken care of. Launch is coming soon.

This is not only going to be a documentary type thing, but hardcore training for those who are interested. I imagine the course will be at LEAST a few hours worth of video, all professionally done. I'll see what I can do soon.

      This is an important reply.....

I think it is crucial to have a list to have a long term sustainable business online... I guess it would be the same if you had an offline business and no returning customers, your business could not survive...

I read someone elses post on this thread saying to create a squeeze page with a special free report... this is great advice also.....

I have tried co-registration lists, some people don't like them but I have had good success with these and it is a quick way to build a list...
Take a look at list builder pro.com... they have the best co registration system around...

It is just a suggestion to build a list quick, plus you could offer this list a free report, or create a buzz and offer the list a discount for the 1st 20 subscribers.... Just a thought.

Plus releasing here on the warrior forum would be great too....

It sounds like you put a lot of work into this, good luck man...

If you want to build a list fast, create a quality product and give it away for free as a WSO. This will also help in building your credibility to people on the forums which will make them more likely to try out the next product you put out (your membership site.)

Krull it's a great idea to leverage your successes, and leveraging your success in another niche and creating a product to sell to the IM crowd is a great idea.

Here's a few things to think about:

    - As soon as you can you should think about creating a squeeze page to start building a list. If you have anything actionable which has already worked for you (could just be 1 little secret) then create a short report or video (better) on this and offer this on your squeeze page.

Add links to your squeeze page to any IM forums (i.e. Warrior Forum) signature to get a small amount of traffic to start you off. You could also setup a squeeze or optin on a blog if you have one in this market.

    - Write a few follow up emails with some more ideas of strategies that you've built up from your time in the other niche. Also ensure you mention the free video again as not everyone will see this on the first email you send them..."have you watched the video revealing xxx secret yet...". You want them to consume your content

    - By offering something actionable to your optins (from your squeeze) in advance you will build reciprocity, and when you then come to offer them something down the line, you will have a better response rate.

    - One other thing to think about is your actual product content. Although it sounds great to offer a complete system - people want specifics. Don't try and be all things to all people - by targetting everyone you will effectively target no-one. So try and come up with a unique angle or focus for your product so it doesn't just get lost amongst all the other "systems" out there.

    - As someone else mentioned above, the Warrior Forum special offer section is a great way to launch your product. If you're thinking about launching on Clickbank later, use them as your merchant account for your launch here too and build some initial gravity and sales.

I hope these tips help, and good luck with your product. Remember to document everything as you go through your launch process in your niche (take videos/screenshots/notes) as you can use this stuff in your product or sales materials.

If it inspires you, I started a very successful IM business right here on the Warrior Forum and started with ZERO list and ZERO contacts

If you make the right product and sales process it WILL grow.
Use the War Room as your product testers and then the WSO as your sales process test and from there expand.

        Thanks for the replies.

What's coming will NOT be like most marketing courses out there. The way I do my other niche is different from most too, so this will be no exception... I can't wait to get started on it.

I think that going the route of creating a WSO will allow you to create the initial momentum that you are looking for in launching your product. The idea of creating a report has already been mentioned, but what was not addressed is the fact that if your product is of great quality, this report has the ability to go viral and will start to generate the traffic that you're looking for. Good luck with your launch!

Dude... am I reading this wrong...

Or are you saying you're broke and haven't had any IM success yet?

    Comments like this:

Once this is launched, it's going to take me from around $0 to... well, let's just say that it will definitely be full time income
    Make me believe the latter.

As a successful copywriter, I'll tell you right now... in the IM industry, you *need* to walk the talk. Without having actually achieved this yourself, you're screwed before you begin. People just won't buy.

And that's putting aside the whole ethical ramifications of you trying to teach people to do something you can't do yourself.

Look, I could have misread your post, and if so, I apologize.

But if not... I'd recommend you re-think this one.

Always looking for badass direct-response copywriters. PM me if we don't know each other and you're looking for work.

I'm involved in another smaller niche that I've had success with over the past couple of years. That's where I get most of my income from. It's an affiliate product or two. What I meant from 0 to full time is the company that I established. This is more of a personal niche and it's what I want to do with my life. So what I meant from 0 to full time is that THAT project has been making me nothing so far because I decided to build it and experiment over an entire year.

I would have released products MUCH earlier but this is one that I take a lot more seriously since it's a personal love of mine. I knew that there was no way I was going to go into it and treat it like a 'project' like most do. And since that has been so, the figures I'm seeing will allow me to have an entire brand surrounding it and it'll grow into something big in the future

PS: That's why I wanted to wait until it's launched. Real results, and walking the walk 100% as you say.
