Yahoo Answers still worthwhile for traffic and backlinks?

The last time I dabbled with yahoo answers is more than a year ago. I got banned and didn't bother since, but have been wondering if it still is worthwhile to take time answering questions on yahoo answers for extra traffic and backlinks.

Is this still worth the time? Anyone here have any success with it?

It does bring you traffic but I have heard many horror stories. Like writing a good answer but still getting your account canceled for spam.

Yes it is absolutely worthwhile. The links on Yahoo Answers are supposed to be no follow, but many SEOers believe that Google does in fact follow them...I know I have gotten credit for their links before.

To give you some advice about spamming and getting your account banned. If you're posting links with every answer you post (not to mention the same url) your account will be banned within weeks in not sooner. The strategy I always use is for every 1 answer that I post with a link; I will post 2 without a link. You may think that its a waste of time, but you won't get banned and you will gain cruitial credibility as your answers and best answers increase.

Just like any IM project, you need to put in the time to get the desired results. Good luck!

It's good for traffic but it's no-follow so not good for backlinks.
    But still better then nothing.

The thing about Yahoo Answers is that it's high quality traffic, at least from my experience. Other than that, if you are in a niche that is interesting to people on YA (lot's of questions are asked on that subject every day), than you can get some nice traffic from the over time, you only have to be consistent. Another good thing about YA is that you can actually get to know your niche much better since you see what kind of problems people have

  • For backlinking its worthless

Other wise, it's good for placing yourself as an expert, I have a little secret to knowing when a question on yahoo pops up that I know off.

It means the person I help then goes to my site, and those who read it thereafter might visit my site

YES it is 100% worth it.

    Just be smart about it
    - Dont use affiliate links on thier
    - Dont go and post like 100 responded on your first day. I have my outsource person do more more then 5 responses a day to any single website
    - Contribute to the community (related topic, you will be percieved as the expert)

It is all about testing, testing, testing. I just posted about Yahoo Answers on my blog today as one of my 5 main traffic sources. I LOVE to go strong at something, but I would suggest not to and do no more then a few a day, then work up to 5 at most 10 a day posts. There is (or was) a free ebook on The War Room that covers it pretty well. I think its called #1 on google in 5 minutes or something like that.

    Cheers,
    Mukul

I too recommend Yahoo answers for a good traffic flow to your site but, you should care of accounts as they would suspend our accounts at any time.
