good web hosting

I am looking to setup a new website and having a frustrating time.

Here is what I'm looking for:

-no setup fees
-paying monthly instead of a year in advance (Don't want to put over $15 on my charge card when I'm not sure if I'll like their hosting)
-ability to use Aweber or other autoresponder with site
-drag and drop web builder
-ability to add video

Any hosting sites like that out there? I've seensome suggested here previously but they turned out to have either setup fees or need to pay a year in advance

      To the best of my knowledge no host allows monthly payments. They all collect for one year.

        Hi Krish,

        Sadly I think you have been mis-informed. Hostgator, Bluehost and I believe Godaddy take monthly payments. I have never been with a host yet that asked me to pay a year in advance.

    Hi 5tool,

    Lots of hosting companies offer the kind of stuff you are talking about, Hostgator.com is one such comapny. However, a word of warning to you, whilst a lot of these excellent hosts do offer easy site-builders, their systems are very limited, and in my experience, the websites you create with them look like utter crap.

    Hostgator does offer a cpanel (control panel) with pre-made hosting templates, some of which look pretty cool, however, on the flip-side you need to know a little bit about what you are doing when it comes to site design to work with these templates.

    My best advice to you is to go away and learn how to use wordpress. Then go to a host like Hostgator or bluehost that has the "Fantastico" option on cpanel and install wordpress on your server with a couple of easy clicks. From there, all you need do is edit wordpress and add the code from your third-party autoresponder.

    This will take some time getting familiar with wordpress, but it doesn't take long to get to grips with and is WELL worth the investment of time.

    Alternatively, learn some FTP and make some great looking websites with point-and-click functionality on the interface at a place like blinkweb.com. Best of luck to you.

    I just signed up with Hostgator and they DO take monthly payments of $9.95 a month.

    I go with Hostgator and also D9 hosting - recent operation but extremely good so far - cPanel on both etc. The Wordpress suggestions are well worth considering - gone are the days when WP was"just" a blog - some WP websites are really sophisticated now - and you CAN do it yourself. 100s of templates - free and to buy - as well.
