Well I've been using JustHost and the just arent cutting it...

Cant trust Google because all the reviews are people trying to catch some commission. So I thought I'd go to the people I can trust.

Which Hosting company do you think provides the best overall service, reliability, support and speed.

I would say go with hostgator.

You can also host unlimited domains and their very cheap.

I have the business plan for around 14 bucks a month but you could get the baby plan for around 9.95 a month.

Godaddy is too much of a hassle for me.

To much advertising plus they ad you to death in you email box.

That depends on what you need to run your sites.

If all you have is a brochure site...godaddy is ok.

If you need to run any type of script that runs a cron job...then totally forget HostGator.

I'm on the lookout for a decent service too.

I think you meant "Totally forget Godaddy"

I have several sites running cronjobs on hostgator.

I would not recommend anyone use godaddy for their
hosting. I would only recommend you purchase your
domains from godaddy and not hosting.

          Take Care,

Yeah...I feel the same way about GoDaddy. I was trying to be nice because if all you have is a one page wonder for a site, GoDaddy is alright for that as long as you don't mind being sold to every step of the way.

HostGator...I'm really pissed at them for the second time. Granted the first time it was my fault (earlier last year) for burning up a server. I shouldn't have been on a shared service anyway.

But just a few weeks ago when they had a problem with the lastest wp update to 2.9.1 it effected cron jobs.

So...instead of fixing thier own code settings to comply with the update...they decided not to just stall cron jobs but to totally empty the servers mysgl databases. IDIOTS!

In my case...all 250,000+ pages went with it.

Just to put icing on the cupcake...they blamed me for the mishap...then they blamed wp. Then they decided...wth...it never happened. It was just everybodies imagination and blown up out of porportion anyway.

Needless the say I'm still PO'd...and could only get 660 pages back as of yet.

That sucks.. Thats why I make a backup of all my Sites and download it to my hard drive.

I have some 10,000+ page websites. I'd hate to lose em.

Are you serious? You blame hostgator for Wordpresses POS software problems? You know whow many websites have been hacked or defaced because of insecure wordpress installs? Hundreds of thousands. Yet it's there fault because you neither know how to manage, or are too cheap to hire someone to manage a application you have absolutely no clue how it works. Pretty good. Do you go to Autozone, order a headlight, nailt it to the front of your Yugo, and get mad at Autozone when it doesn't work?

That brings us to the second point which you yourself made and I 100% agree with. If you host a business on shared hosting you will get neither performance or security and you deserve neither. If your spending 20 a month on hosting to run your business on a shared hosting account , shut it down. Your not cut out to run a online business. Shared hosting is for mom's recipes or for little Johnny's baseball, it is not for hosting a business. If someone tells you different it is because they are inexperienced internet n00bs.

And finally, in the end your account, it's files and your data are 110% your responsibility. Make sure your backing up and following secure best policies. Most of you should have some form of consultant on retainer or a good web master. Not a web designers as most of them are idiots. A web master, who can audit logs, install plugins and understand why the web is a dangerous place for business.

60% of internet marketers I deal with should not be on the internet and instead should be finding out what kind of fries you want.

With that said here is my 2cents on hosting companies for business.

Shared hosting - Wont recommend as your a business.
              VPS - Direct Horizon, PowerVPS
              Dedicated - Rackspace, The Planet

I use a small company called Just199 (http://www.just199.com) and they have fantastic service. Not sure how their prices compare to some of the others but I only pay about $6 monthly and I have several sites there so far.

The biggest plus to me is that I've always had an answer to any question right away and they've gone out of their way whenever I've been a dunce about the technical stuff.

Not sure why people are knocking Godaddy. If you don't like their emails you can simply opt out. I have an unlimited domain hosting package and it has done everything I've needed. Most of my sites are Wordpress with a few basic html and one forum. I have never had any down time on my sites in over 2 years with them.

      I use godaddy and hostgator.

My personal problem with GoDaddy is that they are more expensive, and as soon as I had a few sites up there they told me I had to pay extra because I ran out of space (and those sites were very light - very few images, no flash or videos)

I don´t think GoDaddy is the best option, they have great customer support but i always have issues about not being able to load from dreamweaver, Hostgator it´s my best option I can think of, still do your search around, there is lots to choose from

I just posted this in another thread, so am starting to feel like a bit of a spammer. However, I just opened a new account with this company a few days ago and really like what I see, so far:

I used a company called Fran Tech (my.frantech.ca) - Its more expensive $25/month but I pay for a VPS. If you are just looking to host a website or 2 I would def go with Blue Host.

The reason I do not like Go Daddy is because of the excessive advertising within their site. They are relentless trying to up sale, and their customer service is only mediocre. They charge for every single thing that you want such as adding ffmpeg - or any other kind of server side scripts. They also always raise the prices after a year. I would 100% not recommend GoDaddy

Yup, I would also go for HostGator or BlueHost. Hostgator is perfect for me

    they aren't that bad.

Hostgator is by far the best. If you are going to have multiple sites, then get the Reseller Hosting plan for $24.95 per month. It makes everything SOOO easy, plus you can resell hosting if you like.

If not, go for the Baby or Hatchling plan.

They also have live support 24/7 via chat. They got to know me personally...well almost. I am currently hosting about 55 websites right now through a Hosting account at $24.95 and have a Hatchling account for one site, (unlimited bandwidth/unlimited file limit/size)

Make sure to use a coupon code. HOUSTON is the best coupon code I know, its free for the first month, up to $25.00.

    Good Luck!

I use and would recommend BlueHost, they've been great to me. Price is competitive with others, and the only problems I've had with my sites have been problems I created myself, from not knowing what I was doing. And when that has happened, their customer service have been very good. BlueHost gets two thumbs up from me.

Hostmonster and bluehost is not bad. I have never had a problem with them. They have 24/7 service which is not bad and runs my 400 member website just fine. Obviously, this type of host wont be enough if you get lots of activity!

I actually talked to the owner of bluehost, and they have some really awesome stuff coming out that can potentially help compete with a VPS and give you a fast performing host!

Tried MediaTemple for a while, they started off alright but as time went on it really didn't cut it anymore. The support times were a little too slow for my liking, and the rates were a little too much, especially when you practicaly get everything half price at Host Gator.

Currently with Host Gator at the moment, and never had any problems. The uptime and reliability has been outstanding, and the support has generally been quick and extremely helpful.

    Hope that helps.
