How to get 15000 uploads in a week.

Ive been soaking up information in this forum for a while now and now feel it time to give back.
Ok so about 5 months ago a website near where i lived managed to get 15000 up loads to a photo sharing site that they have. This is how they they did it.
There was a big sporting event in our area which attracted around 200000 plus people.At the entrance and and exit of the event they had posters and banners offering people a digital camera for a prize for the best photo uploaded to the site won a prize.The weather was great with plenty of opportunities for great shots, people were taking photo all sides.
So to cut a long story short this website gave away a camera worth about 150 euro and managed to get 15000 uploads to their site and many of these visitors will return again and use the site. Fair enough they might of had to make the posters and ask the organizers but it seams to me well worth the hassle.
I hope this give some of the warriors here ideas how off-line marketing can bring many new visitors to a site.
I know this method is not new but man can it work if used corectly.
