Blogs: Static Front Page Or Just Posts?

I'm building a series of blogs and for each blog I've been creating a page around my main keyword to use as the "front page." Do you think this will hurt my ranking in the SERPS? I read somewhere that if you have several blog posts instead of a single front page that it can dilute the keyword density and hurt your chances of ranking for a single keyword. I don't think that's true but can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Not true my bro. Its very important to have more post as this will boost your blogs presense in the search engine.

    Thanks

You mean having posts instead of a single, "static" front page? Or are you just disagreeing with the dilution of keyword density?

Why don't you test this. Personally, I prefer to set up blogs with a static front page. In some cases I have a static front page with a limited number of blog-post excerpts showing below. I may also make sure that all post excerpts deal with the same basic sets of keywords. However, my overall impression is that how well my pages rank depends more on off page activity/seo. That is, more on backlinks, comments, posting on social news sites, bookmarking, rss feeds, and so forth.

I am planning on doing some testing. I just wanted to see what other opinions were. Thanks for the input.
