Hi.

If my nieche is on something specific like for example 'South Indian Recipies', if I have written as many articles as possible on this subject, would writing articles on other related subjects like for e.g. 'Indian Recipes' maintain search engine position and stop the area of focus 'South Indian Recipes' from slipping down the search engiene ranking?

    Jim,

    It would depend on where you are sending your traffic. If it is to a site with many pages (e.g. recipes), you can broaden your keywords to include different pages of your website. This might be using the name of the particular dish (recipe) in your article, linking it to that page on your site.

    You can also include your main keyword in the article and link from that as well, depending on how many links you are allowed to include (differs with publishing sites).

    If you are sending readers to a sales page for a recipe book, it is probably best to stick with the keyword that your keyword research has shown to be best.

    You could try being even more specific. I'm sure the competition for your keyword is fairly strong. Perhaps refining it even more, looking for a long tail keyword would be worthwhile.

    You could write articles on that keyword but still have an anchor link back to your site for the main keyword. Also you can use that other keyword phrase and try to rank for that phrase also, then you are getting both traffic from your original keyword phrase as well as the other keyword phrase.
    It can only help as far as I can see, if you can have your site ranking for more than one keyword phrase then you will get more traffic.

    You can write articles on the "indian recipes" and have backlinks from your articles to your "south indian recipes" site.

    Include your specific targeted keywords in the article and mainly title if possible...and surely the anchor text must contain ur keyword !!
