Has anyone found a good WP theme to support list building campaigns?

Hello, I am new to the forum. Prior to posting I searched the site for what I was looking for but found nothing specific, so forgive me if I'm reopening an older issue.

I have been learning the nuances of list building and lead generation for the past few weeks. I am going to start a lead generation website, built around a blog, for my consulting niche. I am becoming pretty well versed on article marketing, video marketing, social bookmarking, etc to drive traffic.

The problem is, I have read several places that blogs are not the optimum medium for opt-ins. This is due to the lack of 'singular focus.' Most blog themes are very busy, offering lots of distractions that might take a visitor away from your targeted purpose.

So I have been looking for a solid lead generation blog theme. For me, it would look something like this:
  • Minimal blog title area
  • Single column, no sidebars
  • Ability to lead off each article with an opt-in video/image and box
  • Footers for disclaimer etc
  • Blog navigation elements at the bottom (top would be OK in a pinch)
Nice to have but not essential - a way of creating multiple opt-in boxes with the ability to associate them to individual blog posts, or to post categories.

The few lead generation themes I have seen - Squeeze Theme, Flexsqueeze - seem more optimized for PPC. The blog elements are traditional, two-column layouts with a fixed box for opt-ins in the blog home and nothing for individual blog posts. The main attraction for those are individual squeeze pages managed within Wordpress.

Ideas?

I built a Wordpress theme for exactly this purpose. One column...No distractions. Check my signature.

That theme, and the sales page themes that VegasGreg mentioned, look great for PPC, but they lack the first and last bullets from my original post. Think of my blog as opt-ins as lead-ins to articles.

I use Flexsqueeze, and the one I use is the professioal theme.

You can remove the header completely in Atahualpa - or have it any size you like.

You can also add the links in the footer - but you need to do this manually - ie add the html code.

You can do that with Atahualpa. You can have no sidebars, plain theme. Remove the header if you want. By default everything is white - you can add colour if you want.

Thanks. Is there an example of this I can check out?

There is also FlexSqueeze, a bunch of WP Sales Page themes, Studio Press Themes (using the 'full page' templates within) just to name a few more.

Yeah I use flexsqueeze. It's great to customize the feature areas.

I considered that but in their support forum the lead flexsqueeze guy said the blog is two columns, no choice of single.

The Flexibility2 theme is 2 columns, but their upsell FlexSqueeze is only one column. It is a "salespage" format with or without a header.

I looked at FlexSqueeze. It appeared to be Flexibility 2 for the blog portion, and a single column squeeze format for the page portion.

I finally got a response from the Squeeze Theme guys. I had already heard from Flexsqueeze guys.

Flexsqueeze CANNOT do a single-column blog with no sidebar.

Squeeze theme CAN. Also, the footer is widgetized so you can do categories there if you want.

This has really got me thinking about the possibilities for article marketing and optins.
