Video marketing - research question

I'm doing a bit of my own research into video marketing.

So I'm looking for a way to find videos that rank in the top 3 positions of Google search for any particular niche. Preferably videos optimized for long tail keywords with decent search volume.

Is there an easy way to do this? Any tool that can help me?

That tool is called... Google, right? Not trying to be flip, but it seems to be where your question points.

      Not really.

If I were to just use Google, I would have to manually search for every keyword in that niche in order to find those with high ranking videos.

      That would take too long.

I'm looking for an easier way. Not sure if it's possible, though.

I think you may be confused a little bit...

No one tool is going to tell you the
    keywords associated to a niche...

You have to do your own research for
your keywords first... And once you
have all the keywords for your niche ...

Plug each keyword into Google search...

And once it gives you results, just go to
to the link on top of the page that
    says "videos"

Do this for each keyword, you'll see the
videos you're competing against for each
    keyword...

Try to model what works for each, and
    do it better...

    Good luck...

I'm not confused, but I'm obviously not being clear in my question.

      So to clarify:

I don't want the top videos in Google video search. I want the top videos in Google Universal search. In other words, I want videos that show up at the top of the page in the general Google.com search.

I could do what you say and come up with a whole list of keywords, plug each one into google and see if videos come up on the top.

(and for most niches and most keywords - there will be none)

But that's the point of this point - I am looking for a shortcut! I'm looking for a way to do this faster...

Maybe I'll just write my own script.

Can you rephrase your question. I am not sure what you are asking.

I understood that part from the get go...

Here's my answer to what you are asking...

I'm sorry, I should have made that clear too:

When Google shows the top videos in the SERP
(Search Engine Results Page), but not necessarily
just in the video section of their Returns...

... They do so, because they deem that:
That particular audience, prefers videos, to
Written articles, or to news, or to articles...

In the same token, if they show you an
    article ranking first- that's because:
according to their statistics, that demographic
    of searchers prefers articles...

Let me make the example concrete and
    Live for you...

I attached an image for you:

Write now on Google if you write: How
to Bake a cake the results you will get
    are the following:

The first 3 are "How-to" Article websites
    HowStuffWorks.com
    Buddies.org
    and the third is wikihow.com

The fourth is where your question is answered:
trust me and follow me on this►
4th result on Google are 2 videos,
1 from youtube.com and the other from
    howcast.com

    According to Google Keyword Tool,
18,100 people look for this Long tail
keyword every month... "How to bake a cake"

Now since the majority of those 18,100 people
all gravitate towards How to articles... More
than they do videos... The 1st 3 results are how-to
article website results (The most popular ones.)

As you can see in the picture below... The market
decides which kind of result will be placed up first-

If you were to look for the long tail key word:
"charlie bit my finger- again" on Google, the first
result is a video... Because that video is the
most popular video in youtube history:

    with 151,927,938 views (to date)

I just picked 2 very random topics off the
    top of my head... But

And that's the reason I told you to do your
keyword research.... And do the tedious work,
    that nobody wants to do...

When you look at the results, for your
keywords- whatever the result you get-
you may want to do either video marketing
or article according to how the tide shifts...

If it helps you any better... The majority of
people don't do their keyword research and
that's part of the reason they fail...

Do a little extra Work and it will payoff in the end!

Good luck, and I hope I helped you...

      Bingo!

This is exactly what I needed. Now I know what to do.

If there was a way for me to hit the thanks button 10 times I would do that.

      Really appreciated.

    Hi Sara,

IMO Olivier is right, I think as of the present moment
there's no way to determine which particular videos
are ranking high on their own keywords in the Serps.

Honestly, I think it is indeed "keyword research" done
manually which can show you the top videos for each
keyword. That is, you'll have to manually search for
keywords in G and check out if videos are on the
top results. Then you can use Youtube's own keyword
tool to check the keywords of the video..

You may not know it but Youtube has got it's own
    keyword tool.

    All the best,
