Best BLOGGING Products?

I'm looking into blogging right now, and honestly not so sure what I'm doing.

I have studied listbuilding, traffic generating, PPC, copywriting, and just about everything else but have not studied a single blogging product.

Just throw me some out there.

What do you want to know - it's another rabbit hole. Don't go into it from a 'what's it about' perspective or you'll get sucked in.

I have hundreds of blogs being used in different ways.

Blogs are just content management systems - they make web pages. They don't do anything you can't already do without a blog.

The 3 main reasons people use them are:

1 - They tend to have really simple interfaces and make creating something simple.

2 - There are lots of plugins and templates, so you can customise them easily

3 - Because they have some things built-in that you'd normally have to add to a static web site (like RSS, Pinging and the plugins) they by default make it easy to share their content and interconnect data from other websites (yours or other peoples).

So - you don't NEED a blog - you can do everything a blog does without a blog.

The question is - what do you need that you can't/aren't already doing?

If the answer is nothing - then forget about them.

Coming at it from the other angle, let's assume for a minute you've decided you DO want to blog, and earn money with it.

    Is your preference:

    A) Setting up a bunch of small blogs, that require little maintaining, and draw a steady, passive income?

    or

    B) Developing few blogs in much greater detail, showcasing your writing/knowledge, and becoming an authority in a specific area?

    or

    C) Something else?

It depends what you want to do with a blog really. I think the best thing you can do is to focus on what you want to do online and why first. I have many blogs in different niches but started off with one and built it before moving to another.

I used a product from Yaro Starak called Blog Mastermind first which was a good starting point.

    Jason H,

I'd suggest working with WordPress. It is free and open source, and the community really supports it. There are tons of plugins that allow you to do just about anything you could possibly imagine.

WordPress does have a learning curve, but once you've got it, you can quickly build out and optimize blogs.

I'd suggest getting the all in one seo plugin, it will make it much easier to optimize for the search engines.

All of the items you mention are business tools, not business models. None of them will make you money until you choose the business model to use them with.

Listbuilding? What are you going to do with the list? Sell them affiliate products or your own products? Sell the leads?

Traffic generating? Again...what are you going to do with the traffic? How are you going to monetize it? And PPC is just another form of traffic generating.

Copywriting? Do you want to sell your services as a copywriter? Or are you studying it in order to sell your own product?

If you like to write, blogging might be a good business model for you.

But I'm making a distinction between 'blogging' (information publishing) as a business and using 'blog software' (like Wordpress) as a tool in your business.

In the blogging business, you need to provide fresh, valuable and ongoing information on a regular basis to keep your audience interested. A lot of people burn out on this because they don't really like to write and find it tedious. But check out Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging - ProBlogger and see if the concept appeals to you.

On the other hand, when using blogging software as a tool, you can set up an e-commerce site, Adsense sites, set-and-forget affiliate niche sites, a mini site that sells one product and uses the blog function to publish search engine bait...there are a lot of business models to choose from.

It sounds like you're still exploring business models. What do you want to sell? Your services, products you create (or outsource), ad space? Find a business model that you like, and acquire the tools that fit the model.

        Cheers,
        Audre

Just learn the type of blogging. People blogs but they blog with different purposes. Learning from somebody doing something that you just can't do on your own because you are just not like them personality wise is waste of time.
