Who do I want? Designer or Webmaster?

To take sales copy professionally written and spit out a properly formatted sales letter, what would you call the person that does that most often?

Designer ?
Webmaster ?
Programmer ?
Designer / webmaster?

I find that some do formatting without any designing,, some design but won't set up the html page, etc.

    Web designer.

And now I need to wait another 8 seconds before I can post again. Okay, this should do it...

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Scott: Now that you have the sales copy ready, how about using FlexSqueeze - WordPress Squeeze Pages Made Easy

You may want to just hire a designer for a unique header image.

You'd need a web designer and web developer - commonly many people do both.

A web designer will produce mockup(s) of the site, possibly including header graphics etc. A web developer will take the said mockup and produce the HTML / CSS / server side code required.

As I said, you'll find a lot of freelancers perform both roles. Check the Warriors for Hire section.

well.. they are just titles. What matter is who can do that work... many people in the field have training across different areas and what you're looking to have done can be done by any monkey really lol

I'd say the person that formats the text originaly should be the copywriter since basic formatting is an essential part to writing effective copy. Because I wouldn't trust just anyone to guess at what should be bolded, what should be a headline...etc

The person that takes that text and aligns in on a webpage and adjusts the css... based on the prewritten and styled copy can be any of the following provided they know basic html:

    -Web designer
    - Web developer
    - Web master
    - Your 14 year old nephew that knows a little html lol

But I'd more lean towards calling them a "web developer" as the name implies they are the ones that handle all the coding and developing of your site.

Neither, with programs, plugins, and slight CSS changes all you need is a professional header graphic, and buy graphics, a graphic designer would be my choice

    Don'tcha just love differing opinions...

    Unofficially, you should probably call this person either;

    -Copy formatter or
    -Web Typographer

I've started doing the above for clients, as an upsell - and also as a standalone service.

The copy could be great, but if it has poor readability, then the message will be lost.

If you need help with finding someone, or want to chat about it (whether you want advice on doing it yourself, or outsourcing) let me know.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.
