Is it easier to rank on Yahoo than Google?

This term "internet business made easy" has approximately 290 millions competing websites on Yahoo and guess what?

Or is it a glitch in their system?

It is easier. At least for me. I am sometimes on the first page of Yahoo Search for keywords that yield about 30-40 million pages. That would never happen on Google.

Plus, for smaller niches, I often dominate Yahoo first page: say 4 links to my site (direct or via EzineArticles.com) from the first page. That does look great, but nevertheless, it is Google that delivers more traffic.

It depends on the kind of site. I have a site than don't rank in Yahoo but ranks in Google. Same thing goes in MSN, some sites are there but not in Yahoo/Google.

Well in my experience it's much easier to rank in Google than Yahoo. It's usually the Google rankings that come first followed by Yahoo a few months later.

I guess it probably depends how you are building your links.

My experience is that MSN is the easiest to rank for, then Yahoo, and then a distant third is Google (unfortunately). I get about 80% of my SE traffic from MSN. And it comes fast. I've got a new site that is about 3 weeks old. I got a few directory links and a couple of articles at EZA pointing at it, and it's already on the 1st page at MSN for some pretty competitive search terms. But these are 4-5 word phrases, not 1 or 2 words, if that tells you anything.

It in fact depends with the site to site, but ranking on yahoo's first page is true, you know I am on first page of yahoo for my various keywords from more than 5 years now and it just change its place in serial numbers but not in page..

It does seem to me that Yahoo is easier to rank in than Google. Seems like keyword density is given more weight and Yahoo is less picky about link "quality" than G is.
