How to find a coach?

Hi Lional, it sounds like you may have a few challenges - one may be that the product you have chosen (or is it one you have developed?) may not be targeted properly (title may not be the best, positioning at a specific desire or outcome may be off, etc...).

There could also be issues with the keywords you are targeting and/or the landing pages where people arrive after you have pulled them in with SEO or ads or whatever other traffic generation methods you have used.

Finally, are you list-building as part of your ongoing growth, or are you relying on a one-time event from a visitor who comes in through your SEO campaign?

The more specific you can be about what and how you have been marketing, the more specific free help you will get online.

Coaching can be EXTREMELY valuable. I have paid 3 coaches over the last 5-years well over $10K and in each case, have received 10X that in value.

In each case I received hands-on help that taught me a new way of thinking, a new way of proceeding, a new way of organizing that I honestly believe I would have NEVER received if I hadn't sought them out.

Why do people making big money coach - good question, here are a few answers:

1) Although they limit their coaching, many coach to stay in touch with their marketplace or to test new systems and training packages. For example, if I am in the business of helping business people succeed, I already have years of experience and tons to offer a new client, but I want to put together a new - even better - course, training program, manual, etc...what better way to test this, but through coaching. Keep in mind, this is not something that will fail, it will always return tremendous value to the client, but you can tweak it and make it even better based on coaching feedback

2) Diversified income...I'm always a big fan of having income from multiple sources (my own products, advertising, affiliate products and yes, services)

3) They do like to help. The fact is that coaching can be tremendously rewarding - sometimes more rewarding than selling a high quality package where you don't have that personal contact after the fact.

It's silly to think that you shouldn't pay to learn - we all pay to get a basic education, we all tend to pay for higher education and in many cases, people pay for specialized information -as long as you know what you want in the end and select your coach wisely, it can be worth far more than your initial investment.

Looks like you are seeking some advice to help you move ahead.

I know how it feels to be bumping around during our first few months and not making any money at all.

It is time to get focused and ask yourself what do you really want.

A coach at this time may or may not be useful.

Why is it so?

A coach is useful as he can customise your learning journey and cater to your interest, strengths and weakness. Yes, we being humans have weakness. But a coach can guide you to leverage on your strengths to progress ahead.

SEO marketing covers a really wide field. My next question for you is what did you do exactly?

Products cover a whole wide spectrum of possibilities. You can always go to niche markets to find out which one is:

1. a thirsty market

2. already spending money

3. give you adequate profits.

Again, how do you know if they are wrong products? How did you reach this conclusion this is a wrong product? I think this is a time when a coach can really come in and share with you what you did and discuss with you how you could have done better.

Find the right coach who can fit you.

How can you do that?

Ask yourself if you are ready to learn...if you are ready to commit to your own success...are you ready to work hard and follow the coach's plan closely...

Never judge a coach based on the price he charges. Some coaches are truly willing to help and they charge a lower price compared to others so that the beginners can have access to them.

I have the privilege of being coached by great gurus. One thing I learnt is that your success is dependant on your attitude.

A guru can teach you many things. And what matter most is how you apply what you have learnt.

There are other coaches who charge alot but they over promise and under deliver.

Always check out their credentials and what others say about them.

A search for their names in Google and related forums is always a good start.

In addition, the coaches have many projects going on...and as what @dvdual said, they are able to make more money using the same amount of time which they spent on coaching someone...so there is always a price to pay....

The final question is are you willing to pay the price to be taught?

This is a common misconception about coaching and mentoring.

I've been on the other side of this dilema.

I coach and mentor people and I'm always being told to charge more or to stop helping people for free.

I love helping people and I find it very fulfilling, but it takes my time and as you rightly said - I could be making money for myself in other ways more effectively, so it doesn't make financial sense to just go around spending time helping people for free.

Over the years I've also found that when you help people for free, generally that acts as a subliminal signal that the advice and help isn't as valuable as when it is paid for. People really do take less action when given free advice.

Sometimes I answer peoples questions in this forum and then see them asking another question about the same thing a month later which demonstrates that they never did the things I suggested the last time. I used to get coaching clients like that too. You work out a great plan with them and then they seem to find every excuse for why they haven't done it.

When people don't have anything invested in a plan - they rarely follow it or give it the importance they claim it has.

There are exceptions and I posted recently about a fellow warrior who took my advice and has now bought a house and got married because of the success he had, but it's unusual for people to actually take action fully when you help them for free.

So - it's a double-edge sword.

It's not in MY interest to help people for free, because there are people who will happily pay for my time and help AND do something about it.

It's not in THEIR interest as they perceive free help to have less value and don't take action so readily.

However - what I WILL do often is get someone with little or no money started for free so that they then can afford to pay for continued help. If they start making money and still don't want to pay - that's where I draw the line.

So, it's a balancing act.

For people like me that got into coaching because we love to help people - we want to helping everyone, but so many people want everything for nothing and won't actually take action that it becomes very difficult to justify working with people for free.
