Am I the only one who unfollows anyone - ANYONE - who wears the Update button out on their Twitter account? I don't care if you're a household name, if you Tweet 100 times a day, you're gone. Yes, I understand that you don't care and I'm nobody to you. I just find that many Tweets to be promotional diarrhea at best and incredibly self-centered at worst. I seriously have to wonder at the mental health of anyone who feels driven to Tweet incessantly. And I don't even care what it's about. I don't follow anyone who isn't Tweeting about stuff at least somewhat relevant to my interests in the first place, but numbers do matter to me.

I think this is relevant because I know I'm not alone, and if you use Twitter for promotional purposes - and let's be honest here... everyone here does - what kind of brand are you building with your Twam... Spitter.... Twitterspam.... whatever the hell Tweeple call it? Seriously, you may well be hurting your image and, thus, your business if you engage in this annoying strategy.

Brevity. Soul. Wit.

Give it a damn rest! Geez!

OK, whale on me if you must. I'm a big boy.

    I agree.

There are some IMers who always brag about their 50,000+ followers and then I see their stream and by-an-large, its useless blah blah barf. It's tantamount to disrespect after I selected you to follow.

I will take your thought even further Zeus, by saying

Brevity+Soul+Wit = QUALITY. Give me QUALITY over QUANTITY and I will give you the time of day, and even RT you once in awhile.

Some marketers have turned it into another... what were those lists called where everyone could sign up and then have their turn emailing each other? Safelists or whitelists or something?

Anyways, it all gets to be way too much marketing and remarketing of the same crap.

And the personal stuff gets nuts.

To me tweeting is almost like a status update. If you're getting ready to go do something social (go to a party, group workout, conference, etc), then sure tweet it up.

Or even if you want to know what kind of sushi everyone else likes because you're picking some up.

But why does anyone really care that you had a tough time picking the red shirt or the green shirt, or that your dog is crapping again?

    Hi guys

I stopped looking at my Twitter feed for about a month because of this. I used to check it religiously but the 100 tweets in a day got on my nerves.

I'll have to go through when I have time and unfollow a bunch of people...even guys I respect. It's just too much LOL.

You're not alone. I don't care who you are, if your mug occupies the majority of my screen you're gone.

The latest trend to tweet 3 times in a row quickly to get better exposure is also irritating... Although I've considered doing it myself, I've found myself blocking people who do it to me...

If I login and see a bunch of tweets from one particular "twurd", I unfollow. That being said, by definition, tweeters have to be hyperactive. I mean ... look at Twitter. Millions of completely mindless little blurbs scrolling past you at lightning speed. I rarely ever log in. It gives me a headache.

I think twitter is a bit naff, I have an account but I just end up with loads of bots trying to follow me.
