DLguard, Aweber And Membership Site

Hi guys

Wondering if anyone could answer this for me.

I want to set up a free members area. I want it to be automated so I don't get a whole host of issues with people not being able to gain access etc. I also want each sign up to be on my aweber opt in list. Is this all possible with DLGuard? If not can anyone point me in the direction of software that will do that

    Hi T,

DLGuard will allow you to create a free membership area, no worries.

Aweber, unfortunatly, is the weak link in the chain.

Aweber don't allow automated member signups. If you're not settled too far into Aweber, I'd recommend moving to GetReseponse (www.dlguard.com/getresponse.php if you don't mind using my link) as they're MUCH more flexible when it comes to adding customers automatically and invisibly to your mailing list.

I worked closely with GetResponse to set up an automated system that is easy for both you and your customers. It's all about automation and seamlessness.

If you do want to stay with Aweber, then you can display an Aweber form on your thankyou page and DLGuad can fill it out - then all your customer has to do is click the submit button.

    Does all this make sense?

Let me know if you'd like me to clarify!

    cheers

I'm find with going with getresponse if everything can be automated. How exactly would that work?

    Hi T,

No worries: basically you'd set up a free product in DLGuard, and link it to a members area.

This means that anyone that signs up to that free product have access to the members area.

The GetResponse integration is really simple:

You put your GetResponse Campaign name (ie. the mailing list name) and your GetResponse API Key (which is a number that is found inside your GR admin area) into DLGuard when you create the product.

Then whenever anyone signups up for that product, they're automatically added to your GetResponse list.

You can set GR's list to be either single or double opt-in. It's up to you.

This is the same integration method for the future if you decide to sell products or memberships - again, you just put your campaign name and API key into the product you create, and it's all done.

This means you can direct your free members (and customer, in the future) into specific lists.

    Does this all make sense?

    cheers

I've been looking for this kind of program for a while now. Glad I found it on the warrior forum.

I had $17 product I was selling and tracked 530 downloads of the report, the only problem was only 13 people paid for it. That little mistake cost me $8789.

Granted someone that steals a product, wasn't likely to pay for it anyway. But I had to shut down the site before I lost anymore.

I'm going to check out this DLGuard.

I'm using dlguard to run my Internet marketing video site. However since I use Aweber, I have to manually ask my members to subscribe in the member's area. Hopefully there will be a way to seamlessly integrate DLGuard with Aweber soon.

      Hi Fairuz,

I've asked Aweber about this a few times, but they don't seem interested in working with me on it.

GetResponse were fantastic to work with.

Can I make DLGuard automatically add your customers to Aweber? Yes. But it'd be breaking their rules, and it'll put your account in jepardy.

Rules are rules, and we do need to respect Aweber's stance, whether we agree with it or not.

Hopefully Aweber will change their official stance on this in the future.

    Sam,

I knew about the problem, and since I have no intention to switch over to getresponse, I guess I have to stick with the current setup.

BTW what's the progress of the pro version? I havent visit your forum for a while.

    Hi Fairuz,

Ah okay, yeah it's a shame. Hopefully Aweber will change their rules and make their system more flexible for developers.

Pro is coming along nicely - there's a LOT of work going into the affiliate system. Basically I don't want a "quick and dirty" system, I want a full blown full featured affiliate system that you'd normally pay over $100 for, standalone.

    cheers

I'm currently using MemberFire for a member's area of mine. It's not ideal, but it works so far. The one thing I'm wondering is the Aweber sign up that it's doing. From what I can see, the MemberFire scripts are sending an email to my Aweber list using the new member's email address so that they are added to my email list. I'm using double opt-in, so then they get the confirmation message and have to confirm their membership.

My question is whether the way MemberFire is handling this is against Aweber's policies, and if not, can DLGuard be tweaked to work similarly?

By the way, I found this post because I'm currently working on switching my site over to DLGuard before doing a re-launch of version 2.0 of my product. So, hats off to Sam, who seems to be a fantastic guy and puts out a rocking product.

Yes, DLGuard does allow you to do email signups in this method. Check the terms and conditions of the software or provider you're using, though.

Can you do this with Aweber and DLGuard? Yes. Is it okay? I'm pretty sure Aweber don't allow this.

You'll find after awhile that since all the "requests" are coming from the same IP address, Aweber will start to block them.

So while it can be done, it won't last, and I'm pretty sure it's against Aweber's terms.

For automatic signups, you can check out Aweber's Email Parser feature.

I'm hoping one day Aweber will implement a system similar to GetResponses that allows these auto signups whilst still protecting the integridty of the system.

Thanks Sam. That's not exactly what I wanted to hear , but it was still exactly what I was looking for. I'll look into the email parsing feature in Aweber.

    Hi T

I'm using DLguard for the membership site I've just launched (in my sig) and I've been delighted with how cool the setup is.

I've always used Amember in the past for membership sites but I now MUCH prefer using DLguard.

Unlike most other software it doesn't feel "bloated" and it's lightweight and powerful at the same time.

Just my 2pence and I hope that helps!

    Thanks

Sorry to be the beared of bad news, Entrepenerd

A lot of systems claim to be integrated with Aweber, but they're either breaking Aweber's rules, or they're walking a VERY fine line (basically tricking the buyer into clicking a "submit" button disguised as a continue button).

Unfortunately Aweber just don't allow self-hosted scripts to automatically add customers to their lists.

If you're not addicted to Aweber, if you signup to GetResponse (though my link, if you don't mind? my link ...this isn't actually nessessary ), then contact GetResponse, tell them I recommended you, and they can move your Aweber list across to their lists without needing to have them all re-optin again. THis relies on you having a low spam complaint with Aweber.

Then you can have DLGuard add your customers directly to your mailing list, no problems! All automatic, all behind the scenes, no trickery needed

Lee, thanks so much - I'm glad you're really enjoying using DLGuard (especially since you've converted from Amember )!

Do you mind if I used that as a testimonial?

    cheers mate

      Sam,

Is there any way you could have the customer fill out a form that goes directly to Aweber and after the customer is added to the Aweber list have the form variables sent to the return website?

That is how most of us are doing the Aweber integration now, and it is fully within their TOS. It has been checked with Aweber and cleared by several software sellers over the last 2 years.

    Hi Johnny,

Yes, you're right - the form way is fine, I also double checked with that. That's the best way to do it, though unfortunatly it's still not fully automated.

I've got a Clickbank/OTO/Aweber script that does this - basically displays the form, with the details already entered, the customer clicks the submit button, it returns the customer back and they continue on to the download page.

A lot of people see this as being "held to ransom" to get the product they just bought, though, so as you know you've got to be pretty careful about how to word it, and preferably offer a "no thanks" link.

What would be really nice to see, as I'm sure you'd agree, is an API integration for Aweber. Hopefully one day...

    cheers
    Sam

PS. By the way, just to clarify, this form method you mentioned is not what I call "walking a fine line". What I was talking about in that regard was where the form is actually hidden from view, and the customer thinks they've just clicking on a button that'll take them to their download page, but in actual fact they're submitting their details to a mailing list.

And on a completely unrelated note, you look SO much like a mate of mine named Barry. That photos? You guys could be twins!

Sam, there was a mention of a 'Pro' version of DL Guard back in an October post here.

Is there any update at all?

And what might be some of the added features of the Pro version?

      Yes, there sure has!

DLGuard v4.5 now integrates directly with Aweber. Aweber approached me about this recently, and we've now worked together to allow automatic signups from DLGuard via their Email Parser feature.

Basically you just put your Aweber email address into DLGuard, and it'll then add your customers to your list as they buy from you!

      Hi Glen,

Pro is still being worked on - there's been two Standard releases since then, as while I am working on Pro I don't want Standard to slip behind - both will continue to be updated after the Pro release.

The biggest changes in Pro is the built in affiliate program, as well as easy OTO's, all built in as well.

There'll be other features added to Pro in the second phase of the release as well.

      So lots happening!

          Hello,

I actually use the new software DLGAdvance. It just hit the market yesterday and lets you import all of your customers from DLGuard instantly.

Since it acts like a plug-in there are no lists to export or funcky configurations.

Check it out! dlgadvance dot com.
