I'm New Here. Having A Problem....

Hi,

I've read lots of great info on this forum already. I can't believe it.

Anyway, I've recently built a blog. I have listed it on Google and submitted it to every blog directory I can find.

My problem is, however, I've hardly had any traffic. Most of my traffic has come from me posting the URL on my Facebook page and asking my "friends" to visit.

Am I being impatient? It's been almost two weeks since I started the blog and I thought I'd have A LOT more visitors by now.

Thanks.

How are your search engine rankings? That's how most people are going to find your site. It isn't going to happen through word of mouth!

Figure out the keywords you want to rank for, and then attack those keywords with all of the techniques that are constantly talked about in this forum. You need to get good rankings for particular keywords if you want steady traffic. Otherwise, how is anyone going to find your site?

You have made a great start.

Next you should focus on traffic strategies. Without traffic, there is no revenue. Even the best blog ever created, is nothing without traffic.

There are many ways to develop traffic. Dig around in this forum, the answers are all here.

Don't be too tempted to buy lessons or products, just read the forum, read a lot, implement what you read..

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

patience is key when getting a new blog going. If you're only going for free traffic the best things you can do are...

    1. Ping your blog everytime you make a new post at a place like autopinger.com

    2. Post an entry every day - google loves blogs with fresh content

    3. Make sure to have keywords in your blog titles (and make sure the urls to those entries are seo friendly... meaning they are in plain english like the ones here)

    4. Create posts with long-tail keywords titles for hot/trending topics

    5. Put a link in your signature on all forums you frequent....

Other than that give it time... the more content you have the more traffic you will get - especially if you follow these starter tips.

      Hi Kim

Yaro Starak (google him) has a brilliant downloadable ebook, The Blog Profit Blueprint, about how to monetise your blog...and it is free.

I learnt a lot from it. He is a very well respected.

Well done on your progress so far and I hope you continue with your recovery from depression.

Submitting your blog to directories is a decent source of backlinks but that isn't going to get you instant traffic...

First of all, you need to decide what keywords/key phrases you are optimising your site for and optimise it better - title, h1, description etc. At the moment I can't actually tell what term you're optimising for, if any, which in many ways makes the backlinks redundant. The only word that seems to be appearing consistently in title and description is 'depression' - i think yo should be optimising for a term a bit less vague than this...

Anyway if you want instant traffic you have to post on forums with your link in the signature (preferably in the related area), comment on related blogs, and of course the best 2 sources of fast traffic for you would be to post some articles and videos, with your link in the resource box.

    Kim,

If I were you I'd go to some forums where people are discussing depression and contribute with valuable information. Help people. This will get you links and traffic quickly. Organic traffic comes with time.

... start with your signature here. These are not good anchor text links. Choose better keywords... Bookmark your site - onlywire.com. Keep adding quality content.

    Hi,

According to me, I will suggest you to go for some SEO processes that will help you to get traffic as writing Articles and submitting to different directories is beneficial in getting traffic, posting your blog posts on different and relevant forums will definitely help you to get traffic, Forum posting also can be done.

Press release is also a very good option if you created your blog highlighting your services.

Most important thing to note, update your blog everyday or thrice a week so that to let visitors know about latest reviews through your posts.

If you need to know any thing regarding to this than please PM me.

    Thanks!

Also, you can work on different aspects like

Aside from submitting your blogs to different directories, why don't you bookmark your blog posts. Bookmarking your posts increase the chance of people going to your site.

What are you selling? I could not tell by visiting your site. Is this just a journal or do you want to monetize?

If you are just looking for traffic and recognition and to journal - I would suggest using a free wordpress blog. You can get tons of traffic if you blog daily on the free wordpress - (keep in mind, no selling)

If you are looking to eventually monetize, you could use an autoresponder or sign up of some kind on there.

If I'm going to visit your site, it is going to be because I am looking for someone who is dealing with my problem or has dealt with my issue and maybe has some solutions or insight for me.

Right now I'm a bit lost going to your site. Just looks like a bunch of personal ramblings (no offense). There could be some additional categories. Dealing with family while depressed, dealing with friends while depressed, how to cope with getting up, Mind set strategies to getting out of depression, etc.

Also, here are some additional blog post ideas: How to find the right therapist - what you like and dislike about the one you have, when is it bad enough that you need to get a therapist, etc.

If I came to your site, and saw in the upper right or upper left some simple "learn the 7 steps I take daily to overcome my depression" I might sign up for that. A quick and easy guide of some kind that will instantly inspire me.

And after having read your guide, and got on your list - if you sent me an offer for lets say some binural beats with affirmations and you swore by them and gave me a link to the site - I would probably have a look.

      Hi,

Bookmarking can be done as, by this you can rank your site with the keywords you targeted, on the top of search engine.

But, if you want to get more traffic on your blog than you have to update your blog regularly as I already mentioned here. Articles are the best way to get traffic too.

      Thanks

As a start, you should do a keyword research on the niche that you're promoting. Secondly, develop your keywords and generate more contents on your blog. Those contents will also be useful as you could grab and send them to article directories, social bookmarking websites and also post them to other Web 2.0 networks that has good traffic like Squidoo and Hubpages for example. Also, have your blog setup with plugins helpful for SEO such as an All-in-one SEO pack and Onlywire so you can replicate contents to all other networks that could help you be searched by those target audience.

    I hope this helps!
