A puzzling question on domain names. Your thoughts?
Let's say you want to register a domain name, but the niche is crowded and all of the "good" names are taken that use your keyword. I'll use "weight loss" as an example.
What if after the keyword "weightloss," you added a number or two and registered that domain? (www - weightloss56 - dot.com?)
Would it still get the same desired result in the SERPS, or would Google disregard you or throw you at the back of the results for having those numbers in there?
Or what if you registered a really long domain name, like www - weightlosstipstohelpyounow - dot.com?
You'd still have your keyword in your domain name. But again, would the search engines basically disregard your keyword because it's part of a long name?
I could care less about having a "catchy" domain name that looks good on a business card. I want a keyword-rich URL that will help in the rankings...does anyone know how this works?
