Sales Funnel Question

For those of you building lists do you find your conversation rates higher when u have a small ticket product ranging from $10-$17 dollar and then moving your buyer onto the $47 dollar product?

For those who start their funnel off at $47 what is your estimated conversion rate? And for those who start it off at $10-17 what is your estimated conversion rate?

Which one would produce better long term results and net me a higher dollar percentage per subscriber?

Free HUGE VALUE --> High Ticket Item --> Mid-Sized Add-Ons --> Low Priced Products at a crazy Value price --> High Ticket Item

I start my sales funnel with a free e-book or a free download. I use a lead capture page that I create from Top Shoppers to get the lead into my auto responder, then after a few emails to them (non sales emails,) I introduce my product.

as you will see there are a LOT of way to go about it!

I prefer to treat my list as a newsletter...I do not (really) send a lot
        of "buy this" emails.

since I come from a family of educators? I sort of think of learning in
levels...so I give away the 050 and 070 courses for free, and give
something similar every 9-10 days that is at a beginner level, or is
just one free lesson...in every case I make sure that people know that
there is the more 'advanced' part/level/videos (etc), or have a pdf with
a link to a suggested product (I run all links through a program, so they
are masked, AND I can track IF they are even being clicked)

another idea (after people are on your list) is to give part of an idea,
review, lesson, etc in the email, and suggest that they come to your
blog to "find out more"...this gives you the opportunity to have people
poke about and be exposed to other content on your blog.

I could go on, but then I would have to 'squeeze' you:p

my best suggestion? think about the marketers whose list(s) you are on.
how did they get you to sign up? why did you stay, as in not unsubscribe?
you are likely to come up with some ideas right there. emulating what works
is never a bad way to go.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

I know I will be starting off with a free report but I figure a way to increase my conversion rate would to first offer a $10-17 dollar product that over delivers to build trust and then move on to a $47 dollar product.

Or can i get equally as good conversion going from the free product into pitching the $47 dollar product?

    Hey Vanquish,

    Test, test, test!

Try both ways and see what gives you better conversions. If you don't try you'll never know. Plus there's a lot more to conversion rate then just the price of the product.

I say start off with a low price item to start your sales funnel. This way you weed out the tire kickers and have buyers on your list.
