Need ideas for products to promote to responsive list

Hello everybody

I have a list of about 30K people, all internet marketers (they all registered at one of my sites offering traffic and banner exchange) and it just dawned on me that rather than kill myself trying to climb the SERP's for whatever otehr site(s) I create, I should promote to this list. However I don't have my own product and I would like to know what would you guys suggest?

IM tools like backlink builders? The SEOLInk Dominator? Ebooks? Courses ( I don't know of any plus most of those people are not native Enslish speakers)?

Your input is greatly appreciated!

Marco

PS Don't tell me I have been dumb to sit on that list for so long, I already kicked myself hard enough!

I would suggest that you don't just promote a product that someone tells you to, but promote one you actually use and believe in. You could get a million suggestions here, but surely you're going to want to keep credibility and look after your list by only promoting something *you* know works?

If you haven't promoted to them before now, how do you know they are a "responsive" list?

This intrigues me to. If you haven't promoted to a list, how do you know the ROI and measure responsiveness?

OK, another language error , sorry about that (not a native speaker myself either!).
By responsive I mean that there is a significant number of people (2 to 5k daily) logging in to the website, submitting sites to the rotation, surfing etc.

          Hope his sheds some light..;o)

      Thank you

sorry it seems I was not very clear with my post. I meant suggestions for what type of product you would think would be more effective, yes of course I was not going to just dump any old crap on the list, I would verify the products, I was just ( I guess) looking for 'general' suggestions

      regards

I see, well it all depends. What kind of information did they sign up to your list to receive? What were they really interested in learning from you? I assume there was some reason they joined the list, so if you can find a product that relates to that reason that could help.

If you do have a product you've had great success with then I would do a personal email, friendly and not pushing too hard, about how it worked for you and why you love it. It doesn't really matter what kind of product it is, as long as it would solve a need for them and your enthusiasm for the product shows through in the email.

Whatever you choose, test it carefully. IM one of the most battered niches, the list will grow completely unresponsive if you mess up 2 times...

try a product, see if it is a really good deal. Add a bonus dealing with weak points. Then promote.

it would also be useful if you understand their situation first. maybe a poll? or send out an email asking what is their hottest issue right now.

believe me, you will have your answers.

I would start off with something related to traffic generation. After all, that's the one thing you KNOW all these people are looking.

            Bro,

You would be much better of asking them straight isn't it?

Nobody here will understand better than people from your list.

            My suggestion:

If you haven't start building relationships with them, you might want to think about how to strengthen the bonding before you start spamming them with all sorts of offers.

In this way, you don't have to keep building lists after lists.

            Just my 2 cents.

            Regards,
            Darren

Here's what I would put together...

            1. A survey, ask campaign - call it what you want with 4-5 major tpics (Getting started with IM, traffic generation, List Building, Selling information, selling physical goods etc...) and send that out to your list with the promise that you will create some good content for them (not just fire products at them)

            2. Commit to creating content around the top 1 or 2 responses - this could be a quick 5-part minicourse, camtasia video series, short report, etc... and then offer that to your list to "warm" them up as well as segment your larger list

            3. Match this funnel with one or more product offerings that are in line with what you learned in #1.

You can rinse and repeat this for each area that your list suggested they wanted information about...that way you 1) Get a segmented set of highly targeted, responsive lists 2) Pre-sell your lists with your content which typically leads to much better response and 3) Can market multiple products to them over time

Why don't you just create a survey, that way you know exactly what they want? Just Ask Them...

If they are non-native English speakers, then I would guess that most of them are outside the U.S.? If so, that may be to your advantage if you are in the U.S. The dollar is low right now, so products priced in U.S. dollars are really good deals for a lot of people internationally these days.

Currently, on some of my digital products, I'm seeing international buyers outnumbering U.S. buyers by 3 to 1 or 2 to 1.

How about promoting stuff that you have personally used & liked yourself?

I am signed up to quite a few lists, & when I get the same email from a few of them, within minutes, promoting a just-released product they obviously haven't tried - well, they go down in my estimation & I don't trust them then.

Good point Chickenlittle - definitely advisable to have at least reviewed the product and ideally applied it or used it.

Wouldn't assume that the big launches are all sight unseen though - one of the advantages of building a list in a given niche is that product developers will often give you advance versions of their products to review or use as a beta customer - this happens all the time with us, so much that we don't have time to keep up with all of them.

  • I agree with several of the other posters... you have to ask your list what they want. The best way to close a sale is to provide an effective solution to an existing pain.

(To get you started) Maybe you can create your own entry level product with a list of your favorite IM resources (free & paid)... Give your opinion of the product, advice on the best way to use it, and how (in conjunction with the other resources) a newbie/intermediate/advanced IM'er would use the resource. Also, you might look into negotiating a discounted members only jv price and/or package. You could do a short interview (40-50mins) with each product owner and get the "Low Down Dirty Secrets To..." and include it as a bonus too...

    Hope that helps...

Marco, I would agree with everyone saying go with something you believe in. It just comes across better, unless you are a pro at internet marketing -- which I am not. I'm a writer by nature and I tend to do better with face to face marketing, however, I know what I respond to. I follow certain blogs and buy what they promote because I trust that they've tried what they are selling and that they believe in it.

Now whether or not they actually have tried it and actually believe in the product, who knows, but the thing is, in my mind, they've totally made me believe that they have tried it and they do believe in it. So I go with it and if I need the product I'll buy it, because I trust them.

I would suggest anything related to traffic because that's why they signed up in the first place. For example those people might be in SEO business so it's not optimal to offer them Facebook ads product. But it's your list and I suggest you promote only products that are helpful to them.

If you are looking for backlink product, I can give you a sweet deal with SEOBDB.com. We are just about to launch a new website (today or tomorrow) so don't judge the product by current website, it's pretty awful and we know it. New site is nice and converts really well Just PM me and we can make you a recurring income deal so you just won't get one surge of money but a monthly revenue.
