I dont know if this is the right section, so sorry. Ok, I am just wondering that if i bought a site from someone claiming that they make $100 a month and i haven't had a single sale for a couple months, what can I do? Is there some way to get my money back after 2 months? Let me know thank you. Is there any legal action that I can take as well?

It don't really know but I think that when you buy that is almost after that nobody will want to return your money back, but I'm not sure, ask further
Anyway be careful, especially with adsense sites

You can try, but depends how you purchased/paid for that site.

for paypal - file a dispute
for CC - start chargeback process

Be carefull next time and do a little more research first.

Complicated issue. First, it would have been your responsibility to get convincing information/proof in advance that the seller's claims were true. That means proof the site was consistently generating said amount monthly.

If you purchased this site based on the seller's word alone, you have learned your first valuable lesson: Trust but verify!

Barring any type of written agreement between the two you, you should, at a minimum, have emails or other written confirmations from the seller that his or her site in fact did generate said monies per month. If, after purchase, you have discovered this was not true, the seller is guilty of fraud and guilty of larceny.

If a person says the site generates 100 per month and then you see zero returns, you have been had.

I would recommend typing up a nice letter outlining the verbal sales agreement that both of you had, what was promised and what was actually delivered (nothing). Include any emails in your letter of his or her promises. Tell this person they have 2 weeks from receipt of your certified letter to them to return your money to you. If they do not, advise that you will be filing a police report in both your city and the seller's city for fraud and larceny. If the transaction occured over state lines, advise of the federal jurisdiction as well. Lastly, advise that you will not only be seeking criminal charges, but civil damages as well (your money back, court costs, and the lost revenue -- 100 dollars x how many months you have had the site without getting any money from it). That should elicit a response and hopefully you will get your money back.

Remember too, if you have some kind of proof, you can file in small claims court for minimum costs and get your money back that way too (if you get a judgement you can then have the person's wages garished, bank account frozen, etc).

If you have any more specific information on your case, you could contact me and I would be more than happy to help you get this done step-by-step. Fraud sucks and I have no tolerance for it and feel bad for others who have been duped. Don't take this laying down. If you do nothing, you will get nothing. If you put some effort into this, you will get your money back and then some.

I would guess that any recourse you have depends on the wording of your purchase agreement. Does it say anything about continued performance, or is that something the seller let you assume?

The seller may have been telling the truth - the site did throw off $100/mo. What he may not have said is that the revenue came from outside efforts he was making, rather than from the site by itself.

I used to have a site that averaged around that figure, as long as I spent enough time and effort driving traffic to it every month. If I stopped promoting, the site stopped earning.

I thought about selling that site. I could have disclosed the effort involved in generating revenue, but that would likely have killed the value. I could have simply forgot to mention it, but it would have made shaving in the morning a lot tougher (not being able to look in the mirror and all...) I finally just killed the site.

Could be your seller should have done the same. Depending on how much you paid and where you live, you might end up writing it off as a bad investment and moving on.

EDIT: Dan, it seems that great minds run in similar tracks...

Oh yeah, forgot this too. The other guy is correct: if you paid with your credit card, file a chargeback ASAP! If you paid with PayPal, it may be too late to file a dispute because you wrote you have had this site for 2 months or more now.

The other thing to bear in mind is whether the seller had been doing any marketing of the site that you might not now be doing. It could be that he was making $100 a month, but spending $25 a month to promote the site with AdWords, banner ads, etc. Or, that he was utilizing free sources of traffic that he didn't share with you.

if you paid Via Paypal you will have 60 days time to ask refund ..after completion of 60 days you can't do any thing ..

if you paid via Credit card then start charge back

but if your dealing with paypal provide them some proofs like email sent by seller

i hope that your money will get back to your account..

    Good luck

Just a thought. Did you change all the links on the site. For example, remove the vendor's affiliate links and put your own in. Or remove the vendor's adsense code and put your own in?

Sorry if that's kind off obvious and you've done all that - but I'm just wondering if the site is still earning $100 a month - but for the person who sold it, not you!

Did they provide proof of previous months before you bought?
    Was there a written agreement?

Personally i dont see how you could get your money back. Your buying on the basis they made money not that it will make money when you run it.

I would go back and look at the written agrement or contact you filled out. If you never filled one out I would gather your screwed and notch it up as a lesson

Everybody here brings up excellent points. The fact is, we all just don't know the specifics of your case.

The bottom line is the seller should have disclosed EVERYTHING -- variables included and you should have asked about EVERYTHING -- variables included.

It could be as what other posters said: maybe the site made money for him or her, but not for you. You need to ask why and see if there is something that he or she was doing that you are not doing.

Sometimes the products you are promoting are no longer on clickbank anymore for example. Is that the problem? Is the site getting any traffic but no sales?

I suppose you need to either give up more information so that everybody can help you better, try to get your money back, or, if you feel it may be something you are not doing correctly, keep the site and make it work for you.

Again, everybody had some great comments here that I did not think of.

It all depends on the purchase agreement you made with the seller. Did it include a money-back guarantee? Did it include a return period?

As others have mentioned, have you tried to drive traffic to the site? Did the seller mention how much traffic he/she was driving in order to generate that $100?
