How is this even possible?

Hi there,

Was just looking through the serps to see whats new in my niche and I found an article that was submitted to Ezine that has had 6150 views in a few weeks - what!! How did that happen? Thats like consistently 180 views per day.

Maybe my promotional methods are too meagre but I just don't see how you can get that many views in such a short time and I know this isn't rare.

Wish I knew how to get even half of that in the same time frame.

Any ideas??

P.S that person also has a few other articles on the same subject with the same amount of views as the above one in the same time frame.

Cheers

Yves

That truely doesn't seem possible. I have heard that some people are getting kicked off of there due to robots generating "false" views to drive up stats. Not sure how true that is or not, but the story is out there.

Could be a number of things... Perhaps they got featured, perhaps they just posted an add on a paid to click side in order to get more visitors - which could lead to being featured...

In either case I don't think it was legit traffic.

Yes, I have also seen people advertising their article link on Paid to click websites and some of them were having more than 10,000 views!!!!

Do the views translate to sales or to backlinks.
Don't give up. Keep writing and posting.
If you are doing it right it will payoff and last.

I have recently been reading about a way to write articles that might lead to those numbers, but I don´t know if it´s what that writer has done and I don´t know if it works for certain as I haven´t tried it myself yet.

It basically revolves around writing your fully fledged article on one side and then a few smaller ones that would be like introductions to the big one. You post the small ones in 2.0 properties linking to the big one and to each other (aka a link wheel) and promote the link wheel the standard way (pings, social bookmarking and so on).

If the articles are on a popular enough niche it doesn´t seem impossible to get that number of views. Whether they translate into backlinks and/or sales is a different matter altogether.

Ok everyone ... put away the little black helicopters and green aliens.

A very well written article can get several hundred hits a day there without covert or sly methods.

Lol, of course it can, and it also depends on the popularity of the niche, the keyword research targeting that went into the article and plus the simple fact that Ezine has thousands of visitors and high volumes of traffic, so that number is not that great.

Make sure that you write good stuff, for a popular topic and always do proper KW research to make sure that your article is found by as many people as possible.

If all of them have the same number of views then im guessing that they have brought traffic to inflate their views, but not too cleverly.

If this is just a fluke then it is because they were in a good category with lots of traffic and also stayed in the most recent list for a while, would also say they probably got ranked in google or are getting traffic from other sources (check their backlinks).

Maybe they have a large list and send a link out via email (or Twitter, etc.) whenever a new article is published. That would give them a big boost and it's completely legit.

    Jay took my answer.

It could be a list, this does two things. First it supplies your list good quality content.

Second it can put you in the most viewed section of ezine.

They could also have bought payed for traffic and sent it to their article. This is however, against the TOS of Ezine.

I have jsut up loaded my brand new site fastmoneypage.com yesterday evening. This morning I typed into google the keyword which is the site name without the .com and separate the words, and whoaaaa second result on the first page out of 150 000 000 results. I am shocked but I guess google know what they are doing.

The site was indexed within minutes after uploading. I don't know if anyone else have this kinds of fast first page results or not but it feels good.
I am new to IM, never done it before and only started it back in August of 2009. One of my site reaching PR2 after four months of operating.

My troble is getting traffic to my site. Quality, buyers traffic. How to do that?

That number is nothing to go by, especially if your site contains a keyword that is used a lot.

As for the views, the only way to know is match up the views, are they ridiculously similar?

and try to pick out their keywords, if they are doing it consistantly then the are doing good keyword research (if its legit) or they have a big list.

Even if they have a big list then I would assume the person knows about SEO, so try to find the keyword in his title or body and anchor text, then do google searches on it.

      See if they are ranking.

This is totally doable, infact small time compared to some of the better article marketers.

There's more to article marketing than meets the eye, and like anything is complex in its own way.

Everything always has its method of being scaled up.

What is actually a normal amount of hits in, say, 1 week for a well-constructed keyword-rich article? I'm new to article marketing so I'm just wondering what the traffic is actually like.

  • From what I see there isn't an average for a well constructed article, it's all down to the keyword you target, and its monthly searches.

Also the popularity of the niche, if its a hot topic then it might be higher than usual.

After writing a few articles and developing your on style, you can try to estimate the amount of traffic you might get, but thats only estimating. You could get way more or way less.

Webmasters also pick up your articles and you don't collect stats for those.

But you can us Awstats or other analytical programs to see where people come from, and then check out which webmasters or directories are responsible for the surge of traffic.

The only source you can't track is direct visits (I think)

    Jay.

Hi Perz Thanx for the input. I am very new to SEo and never done it only using the web bulding softwares built in SEO capability. I don't have a list at all, The views are not as ridicuolusly high tho. I've only had 6 views last night according to Statcounter which I use.
The funny thing my other sites are up on first page, example medicbulletin.com have never ever did I advertise or promote and consistently the first result on google even surpassing the british medical bulletin. after 4 months in operation. all 8 of my sites are in the top 5 pages without ever promoting them except sufferingfrommigraine.com which I had used adwords with and some forums.

WHat I do is I use two softwares Serif Weblus and XsitePro they both have built in SEO sections where you can check your site. Use their suggestion and when I am done I upload the site or the changes I have made to an existing site.

SO SEO is well done by them. Now the marketing and getting quality buyers traffic is the problem. I don;t use any but organic seach which is a hit or miss. I don't have a responder service, I am not very creative, have a blank mind, almost 60 but I am curious. Keeps me going. My dream is one day I can just lay in the sun smoking a cigarette and when people see me thay say "look he is working"
So when I reach that I'll be happy. How to get traffic without spending a fortune?I don't like list because I have no one to send it to only friends and family and don't want to rouse the nest.

  • If you want to build lasting business in your niche, then you want to build a list.

You could provide, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly newsletters including news about your niche, articles, reports and slip in a few valuable products now and again, the key is to provide real valuable content.

Remember to you its making you money, but to the person receiving the newsletter they are actually looking for real info about that niche.

For example, you can't get people to opt-in to a newsletter about losing weight, then send them newsletter saying:

    Hi fixname,

To lose weight you have to exercise.

    Then a followup saying:

    Hi fixname,

I hope you started exercising, exercise some more.

You need to give them stuff that actually works and has been researched and studied. This will entice customers into going to your pages, and build that bond between you and them.

As for marketing, you can use organic listings, if you truly were ranking for good terms your traffic would be good, as for buyer traffic you have to be more specific as to what they want.

If you include the word FREE or use broad terms they might just be looking, but if you dig down to the specifics then those are the sort of people more inclined to buy, as they are looking at specifics.

Also use press releases, article marketing, social bookmarking and other social networks to build traffic and exposure.

If you want it bad enough, you will have your dream, hope this helps.

    Jay.

Wow thats a lot of views and I agree it does not seem possible, I submitted 3 articles to ezine last month and have so far had 416 views for all three.

If this is legit would love to know how they did it, perhaps an ad swap or big promotion featuring the article?

Thanx Jason for the attention. How to do a press release? Where do you release it to?
You're right. I am gonna do articles and social submitting today and spread the words but I have seen press release mentioned before but no idea where do you release it on the net.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1656471].message }}
  • not necessarily.

I know people who get 30,000 and 100,000+ views on one well written, marketed and optimized article.

There is more to using Ezine than just submission. It's also a good research tool.

    Use it.

    As for press releases,

Yeah, the article was bog standard, not that great title, nothing special really and in a moderately searched niche but nothing crazy. I like the ideas about sending the article to a large list or paid traffic as the view counts were pretty much the same for all their articles (strangely the same), I think that calls for a small crew of black helicoptors but perhaps the aliens are surplus.

eThree possibilities a) It' very well written b) The writer is sending traffic to it from their own site c) they have worked hard at creating backlinks to that specific article which has driven more traffic to it.
