Be aware when you see some gurus telling you that you can make money without doing any work, the truth is there is nothing which you can do no work and make money, if there is, the gurus themselves will make money alone and why they are telling you the secret, so it always going to be works and more works if you want to make money on the Internet.

Napoleon Hill's famous best seller we all read
says Think and Grow Rich, however, if all you do
is think then you can waste your lifetime
sitting in a corner thinking, but you won't make any money.

To make money, you need discipline, to do what is necessary.

You have a good point there! Same goes with 'The Secret', if you are just sitting in a room and waiting something to happen, I bet it will not going to happen, walk out of the room and do something to make it happen instead!

You must not have read that book in its entirety.

Or, you read it once and never came back to it.

The thought is the seed that can become riches.

Napoleon Hill tells you the work involved in creating those riches you think about.

But every "thing," including riches begins with a thought impulse.

      Wrong.

Made good money last week just thinking how to market a company. Sold the consulting report for much more then my regular income.

Just thinking and writing it down. <<< guess that's work.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I'm not sure what being lazy really means. I've never had the experience, and I'm 61 years old. Some days, I have to push myself more than others, but I've never had a lazy day that I can remember. On the other hand, I envy those that can just take some time to sit out on a rock and ponder. I can't do that. It's not in my make up. I am working harder right now than I ever have before, out of necessity. I guess if I didn't love IM, I might learn to relax a little. It seems like every day I find dozens of things I need to do, and life goes on!

yes you are right, the result in making money will be zero unless there is a hard work in it.if any one is is lazy and want to make money first they have to remove lazyness from them or they must think of making money.

You CAN be lazy and make money. But that stage comes after the first more important stage of hard work.

Work hard, know the ins and outs of your business, establish yourself, and you can afford to be lazy.

Haha but I hate it when marketers claim you can start making money the same day. Stupid selling tactic.

People always fall for that trap, very soon they will find out that it's not working and start looking for another product that works, they never realize that it take works to make money.

I like when something happens as a result of hard work be it negative or positive what that shows is action = reaction you have to give to get in every aspect of life. Some people are content being spoon fed but what happens when the bowl goes empty? Work and be content don't work and be miserable.

I read a lot about "working hard." But the truth of the matter is, people have to WORK SMART.

There are so many people "working hard" today but getting no where. Take the millions who are working two full time jobs and not making the ends meet.

The fact is, people have to learn to work hard at working smart.

IM can be hard work -- it IS hard work, but it is also smart work that pays off if you can do it right.

The person punching a clock all day for 9 or 10 per hour is working hard and is an honorable person -- but the sad fact is that person is only suriving (not living); the person working hard at IM or some other online venture is learning to adapt to the realities of technology to make some money.

So no matter what, you have to work hard to earn your money. But beware: working hard in not enough. Work hard at working smart and the dollars (and life security that comes with it) will follow.

A wonderful thread by-the-way. Reading everybody's thoughts on this is a true pleasure!

If you are just starting out in IM and thinking that you can make a lot of money and you're going to quit your day job, DON'T!! Do it in your spare time and after working hours, it is always a nice feeling when you get your pay check for your day job at the end of the month. Whereas you may not get even a single cent from your IM business.

That advice is gold. Keep the security blanket so that you know you and your family can surive -- then explore other venues in your spare time. If it hits big, proves to be consistent and the success can be replicated at will THEN quit the day job.

Thanks for writing that. I read a post yesterday about some guy who quit his day job to get into IM (reportedly his wife was very displeased at this). He had second thoughts but it was too late.

That's good advice about the paycheck and all, but it's the lousy day job that's preventing me from moving forward with my IM dream. I'm away for so many hours every day I'm lucky if I even get 10 consecutive minutes at my computer when I get home plus I'm extremely sleep deprived and it's driving me nuts! I want to quit my job sooooo bad so I can work from home, but how to make the transition is what I am desperately after.

You can however be clever and automate your incom streams by tactical delegation if you can build a team of people around you. I still "work" (on new products and systems) as i enjoy my work but many of my past projects are running without my attention being focused on them in any way.

I actually love what I do - so it isn't really 'work'.

However, I am fortunate enough to be able to support myself doing something that I like doing.

The perfect job - being paid for doing something that you would do for free!

      Karen,

I want so much to be like you... to be able to do what I actually love! But my best hours are spent in "cubicle hell" having to answer to 6 bosses with a (fake) smile on my face.

In the real sense you can make money while doing nothing. To achieve that you will have to build your online business and set it on autopilot that is (affiliate marketing) recruit lots of people and teach them to duplicate your effort, build a sustainable traffic to your site and you can watch your profit soar even when you take a long vacation.

Those ads maybe reflecting the finished aspect of building a successful career and not the weary beginning.

Oh sure you can make money without working at all. It's easy. There are actually 2 ways.

    1. Inherit a bunch of money and pay someone to invest it for you. Live off the interest earnings.

    2. Marry someone who inherited a bunch of money and do the rest of #1.

    LOL See? It's EASY!

I also think that much depends on an individual, his/her work habits, motivation, time, ability, talent, etc. It's like trying to learn how to draw or paint by an master artist. You learn and practice techniques and use your preferred style with different results. For example, you subsequently "make it" as an artist in 6 months or so, while another person with equal ability, drive and talent doesn't make it as an artist at all.

The master artist or guru can only lead you to the water/riches. Whether you make it or not depends on a number of factors....

This is a popular sales gimmick that marketeers uses, being "Lazy" will end one spending thousands of dollars before you can even get any returns. For a start, i am bombarded with infos and online jargons to digest. If I don't continue to spent time and effort to explore and to learn, being "Lazy" is definitely end me with incomplete homeworks from my lecturer, my lesson will move on without me... So next time if you see these sentence, checkout how much they are charging you for the lesson and decide if you have the time for the homeworks. btw, I paid my lesson at a subsidized rate of S$290.00 only

GURU in my local language means TEACHER. So if there are many gurus lying around in the internet, they are just looking for STUPID STUDENTS as many as possible. TEACHER can make money by teaching stupid student. You are probably not their target if you are smart enough with their marketing words to enter their courses. It's really no big deal happens here. As long as this online world still provides many STUPID STUDENTS, then the GURUS will still stay around.
Anyway... we are all used to be a kind of those stupid students.
Does anyone try to tell one stupid to not follow the guru and it works? I don't think so. Because, this one stupid will not believe/trust you either. Why he/she must trust you if you can not prove yourself... better than the guru he/she is trying to follow. Who do you think you are?
That's now my point. Experience is the best teacher.
    Cheers...
