I recently decided to sell of some of my niche blogs that I didn't have time for. They could be really good sites with the proper care, but I was stretching myself too thin because of this blog and my upcoming membership site.

I decided to post a thread here on WarriorForum selling 5 of them. Of course your thread needs to be approved and paid for before displaying, so I decided to put it on DP as well.

After putting it on DP, I went over to Ping.fm and wrote a post to display on all my social networking pages with a link to the DP page. Within minutes of posting I had 3 PM's with people wanting to purchase my blogs! I had 3 sites sold instantly and I have an offer on the table for the remaining two!

All of this happened even before my thread was approved here! I mean no disrespect to WarriorForum as I have used the classified listings a few times with success...but I didn't get to this time!

The moral of the story: if you're not using Ping.fm with your social networking pages...START NOW!

Yes I'm with you Kevin. Start using ping.fm....I learned about it recently and have been using it for two weeks. It is really powerful...But do not only ping your site. To get a balance you should ping also other site your are commenting on and so on...

  I suppose there are many social bookmarking options available. I guess I never thought to add the url to them. I have a few more sites to sell....I'll add the url to the most popular ones and see how quickly I can sell them.

if you have a wordpress blog you can have this plugin so that it can submit your post to your ping.fm automitacilly..WPing.FM is the name of the plugin

@The godfather - congrats on the sale. Just wondering though..how were you able to know if the sale came from your DP post directly or from your social networking sites? Just wondering if you had some way of tracking that.

@Memo Ping.fm works great..and I didn't know about wping.fm for wordpress blogs. I noticed though on the download page that it was compatible only up to 2.6.2

Does this plugin work for wp 2.9.1?

I don't know if I'm using it to the best of its ability, but on my blog I have used the PingPress.FM plugin (old version) to integrate my blog, twitter, facebook, and myspace to all update with title and backlink whenever I post. The backlinks come through Ping's relinking's service, so I'm not sure how much backlink juice I get to keep, but as far as distributing stuff to keep your social profiles fresh is worth it. I keep meaning to dig deeper into it when I have time but you knwo how that goes.

Another site that works similarly is pixelpost I think it's called, but they don't have WP plugins to make it easy afaik. You could run it using subscribe2 and doing it all via emails though PingPress.FM

I've thought about doing an info product to teach my setup, but then I get worried that Ping will get flooded and have to shut things down like rss2email did, and that would just be a pain.

I guess I really don't know if ping.fm actually helped, but I have to believe it did just based on the quickness of the sales....I've never experienced sales that quick before on DP.
