What would it take to get a "big marketer" to promote your product?

I received an interesting email today from a "big marketer". He asked me what I wanted as a bonus to buy another marketers coaching program.

I responded with my credentials (in other words, the level of success that I have achieved so far), and would this coaching program still benefit me. He told me that I should just keep doing what I'm doing.

But he did make the suggestion, "maybe bear in mind when creating a product - 'Would a big marketer be attracted to promote this for me'"

What do you think would attract a "big marketer", and if you are a big marketer and I have the honor of you reading my post, what would it take for you to promote my product?

I know what some of the standard answers will be: Quality Sales page, In demand topic, etc. but I wonder if anyone can think of something that I haven't thought of yet.

      That's what i'd do.

      EDIT: How about you get a physical version of your course. Get a nice spiral bound print of your ebook and also get some DVDs for your videos. Brand everything perfectly and then ship them to the marketer using UPS, Fedex or whatever.

      Don't forget to add your offer on a HQ paper. Tell him how good is your ecourse and how much commission he will make. Just make an amazing salesletter and I think if you have a good product you will soon be contacted back by the "BIG MARKETER"

    Hi Rob

    The biggest issue is the quality of the product. It needs to be cutting edge with a twist that makes it unique.

    Many current products are the same old same old same old. They will make you money but would not attract a Big Marketer for promotion.

    I have some great ideas for new products with a twist but as I am making money from them right now there is no way I am going to spread the word. I'm not that nice.

      I think it is this uniqueness that is difficult. What hasn't already been covered? I admired the Google Sniper product. Not for the product itself but just that this guy who seemingly comes out of nowhere, creates a killer campaign, and I'm receiving promos for it from every marketer whose list I'm on.

        Plenty. Find an industry that has very little information on it. You'd be amazed how a simple twist in an industry can make all the difference.

        With Barter Arbitrage that's exactly what Vegas Vince and I did.

        Very little on the industry, very secretive industry but with a twist, of targeting entreprenuers and business owners, instead of JUST business owners, suddenly we have a product like none in the industry, and those in the industry become more than willing to promote it. A simple twist to an age old niche and a whole new product can be born. Just try and think outside the box.

    I think a lot of people just don't realize, they are in this business to make money too. So many look at them like they are gods, when they are in the same game.

    Hit them with an offer they can't resist.

    Create something that compliments their lists.

    Stand out. If everyone is emailing them, mail them the offer physically, call them on the phone, do whatever you can to grab their attention.

    And just don't be afraid to try, you never know who you can end up mailing for you Like the ones you look up to in the industry.

    I'm a big marketer, just over 220 pounds to be exact.:confused:
    Oh not that type of big marketer?
    Anyway all joking aside, I've seen many "big marketers" promoting junk products and services so it would appear that it's all about WIIFM.

    Obviously it goes without saying that having a good product should be your main goal. I think the idea of re-occurring commissions would be another appealing aspect. Another would be to run some sort of competition and have extra bonus prizes or more cash for affiliates who reach certain sales goals.

    I take it that you didn't have a product you could have offered him to use as a bonus for people that buy that other marketer's coaching program through his link? Seems like he maybe gave you a bit of an "in" that went right by you. Maybe?

      I appreciate this, I do have several of my own products but nothing that I would expect a "big marketer" to promote.

      Also, I assumed that the ability to promote the coaching program was by invitation only. I'm only getting emails about it from other marketers that I already know are associated with him.

    As important as the product is, theres one other huge thing to add to your request to them...

    Tell them what you can do for them if they promote you...

    When your on their radar because you made them sales as an affilliate tell them you will reciprocate any mailings, give them a feeling you would be an asset to thier business for ever if the promote for you just once.

    promise them a permanent email in your AR series, a spot in your members area etc etc

    For just a single promotion from them, this will get you started. After that they will only be interested in the conversion rate of the promotion. If it converts they will mail more than once

    make sure you have all the marketing in place, they will want to see you understand the sales process. That you have OTO's etc to maximise the sales to thier list.

    Everytime anyone sends email they have people unsubscribe, plus they will be handing you some of the buyers from their list.

    They will want to see that the trade off from sales and future committment from you will pay for that attrittion.

    It's already been mentioned, but I've found through my personal experience
    that the easiest way to get a top marketer to promote your stuff is to FIRST
    provide value to him/her.

    The easiest and most noticeable way to do that is to make them money
    as their affiliate.

    Why?

    It's quantifiable and it helps them with cash flow. And it's the ultimate compliment.

    I've seen many people do just the opposite and take, take, take, instead of
    give, give, give... and they wonder why they couldn't get any support or even
    a response.

    What about stalking them through social media. If they use those mediums for promotion they will usually appreciate you getting to them that way.

    Even for Big Boys, it really is all about relationship.

    Or so I would think, lol.

      Here's how I got some of the biggest names online to promote my first product... as a total unknown.

      Simple.
      1. Offer a REALLY high quality product.
      2. Mail the product and JV offer to the partner. If it is a digital product send it to them on a professionally produced CD-Rom/DVD along with full colour cover and on body printing. This can be done using a service like Kunaki for a few bucks.
      3. Do NOT email asking for a JV request. Letters get opened. E-mail, unless they know you, often gets binned and/or does not pass their PA.
      4. Show proof of the conversion rate for the product. You HAVE tested the offer first using PPC or your mailing lists etc.? If not, why should they even trust you. Show the proof, screen captures, videos etc.
      5. Once you have one on board and the sales start, grab screen-captures of their success promoting you. Ask for a testimonial.
      6. Tweak your JV letter adding their name as 'social proof'. This results in more up-take.
      7. Bend over backwards for your JV partners. Give them high commissions. Never, ever assume anything. No-one owes you a damn thing!

    Relationships.

    But to get to that relationship is another matter that requires you doing the right things.

    the "big guys" are big for a reason... ie.. they know how to make (and recognize) products that converts (in addition to providing great value)

    Makes that product and start convert it yourself and the rest will happen naturally.

    I will give you a concrete example. We started WPMAGE with nothing, no contacts, no list. Nothing. Just me posting here on the WF as just another member

    First thing we did is do a WSO, well that sold xx,xxx on a single posting.
    Ok, that was our start

    Next thing, is we contacted a "big guy" and arranged a private promotion.
    (of course showing him our WSO conversion numbers)

    Ok, we tore off the roof on that promotion.

    Then from there we got personal refferals. (JVs heard that this product was converting at $XX EPC and came to us) and lined up people for the launch

    and then we are in the circle and the rest is history.

    So it is possible, but you got to climb up the mountain yourself, nobody is going to help you until it is a total no-brainier for them. So make the proof.
