Steal My 2010 Business Building Blueprint (Seriously!) Or...Share Yours Here.

Here's the deal...

You wanna make some quick cash?

Or do you want to build a real business in 2010?

If you want to build a real business, then read the rest of this.

Too many of us in the IM niche want to focus on making fast money rather than building a business.

I must admit, I am guilty of chasing money too!

But once I started building relationships with people in the business who are making a real income, they all had one thing in common.

They had a REAL business.

So here is my blueprint for 2010 to scale my business. You can modify it for your own business as your strengths and weaknesses may be very different from mine.

Step 1

Determine what your major focus is this year.

Last year was a big year, but I want to go to the next level in my business and I determined that I have to focus on one thing... List Building.

Your one thing may be something entirely different, but you have to choose one major focus in your business and stick to it.

Step 2

Realistically evaluate your strengths and weaknesses.

My main strengths are PPC and other traffic buying strategies. I like the instant gratification of getting traffic whenever I want it.

I had to realize that I was doing too many different things and it would always lead to me away from what I am really good at. For example, I am not very good at SEO because it is too tedious and time consuming.

Step 3

Develop a strategy to reach your goals based on your strengths.

My plan is to use PPC and traffic buying to build an email list of at least 50k.

The problem here was that using Google and PPC is a pain in the @** unless you give them what they want.

I also use many other traffic getting strategies, but Google is the best thing smoking even though they are going crazy banning people lately. I think a lot of that is because people are linking to one page landing pages or thin affiliate websites.

Google likes landing pages on content rich websites and since I know they love Wordpress, I decided to do a little test.

I built a landing page based around a Wordpress blog and I was amazed at the results I was able to get.

From that test, I developed a complete strategy for lead generation and list building using Adwords.

I am also using my blog as a lead capture funnel and I am focusing more on that as well.

People are finding me through my blog because they are actively searching for what I do. This makes blogging easy because I just blog about the stuff I love to do!

Step 4

Consistently maintain your strategy with a plan of action once you see some results.

My plan is to develop a killer relationship with my list by over delivering and offering a huge amount of value.

I already know this works because I have been doing it for quite some time on a small scale with my current subscribers.

I know that if I focus on adding more subscribers and continue to over deliver and add value, my list will continue to be high quality.

Having a quality list is more important that a big list and at some point I would lose the ability to build relationships if I try to serve too many people.

Step 5

Have a backup plan and a few other alternatives in case your strategy doesn't work as well as you hope.

Since I know my strengths, I am confident that my plan will work.

However, I also have other streams of income just in case.

I have my own products that I will use in a couple of ways.

One way is to make sales. Another way is giving my products away as a bonus when I decide to promote other people's stuff.

Did I mention promoting other people's stuff? Another way to make some $$$$.

I also do consulting, coaching, training, etc. which is all based around my strengths. These are mainly conducted via webinar format because I am a stay at home Dad with health issues.

If you are not using webinars or teleseminars in your business, let me tell you.. YOU'RE MISSING OUT!

So there you have it!

My business building blueprint for 2010 in a nutshell.

(It is actually a lot more extensive than this, but for this purpose of this post I had to summarize.)

So what is your blueprint for success in 2010?

Who's next?

My business plan is to continue to impress my clients (local businesses) with my online marketing skills and be very forward in asking for referals. Initially I felt weird doing this but have gotten past it. It is the way of the business world and results in very high quality leads.

I have found that laying out specific goals has helped give me more of a focus. You don't want to spin your wheels!

Also, I think it's very important to be as specific as possible when making a note of your goals.

This way it's easy to tell when you achieve your goals and this will drive you forwards to try and reach more of your goals too!

I agree because I hate spinning my wheels.

And referrals are the best leads you can find!

      Good point!

      Being specific is very critical.

I can't recall where I heard this quote but it goes something like: "A long term goal is nothing more than a bunch on short term goals."

That made me understand the power of being more specific on a short term basis.

That's exactly it. And a big success is just a bunch of smaller success rolled together

Obviously I am not counting on the affiliate or CPA marketing for any of my income this year. I am only counting on my blackhat system and my offline service. Everything else I will push hard to get in and hopefully have a break in one of the niches.
      Affiliate marketing:
I will create a few affiliate marketing websites. I have a few hobbies that's don't have much and I want to see if I can make some money there.
      CPA marketing
I got a few CPA products and I learned a lot during the last few month. I am almost ready to go after CPA. I need to create a few sites and apply to some networks. I will also use the traffic to build a list on those markets.

For both CPA and Affiliate marketing I will use WordPress direct to automate parts of the blog for now
      Commercial software dev
The past year I tried to have a few product developed but since I was working full time on another project it was a mess. This year I will have more time since the one I did have made really picked up.
I need to have 5 commercial products made total.
One project in concert with my wife. It is an idea she had a couple of years ago but the technology wasn't advanced enough.
One other commercial website is for the adult business, one for freelancers and a couple of a few hobbies I have.
One advice is to check your hobbies and the top websites for those hobbies. The top websites for mine are a personal site that is not a commercial one (trying to buy it as we speak) and a commercial one that after 45 minutes I wasn't able to understand how to navigate.
      Internal software dev
The one software that was done last year was supposed to be a commercial software but it is blackhat....not bad black hat....roughly as blackhat as craigslist posters....but still. I need to have it modify so it is a little more automated but so far I am making 4k a month and need to ramp it up to 10k before I am really happy with it.
I will also have a couple of software dev to automate a few things on my blogs to replace wordpress direct as it can be pricy for large amount of sites.
I will also take a dedicated internet connection and install a server to host parts of the wordpress software and stats software. Shared hosting won't allow me to do what I want and VPS ismore expensive than a second DSL connection.
      Offline
I have one idée that will be put together soon. I have a complete product that I will market to small web companies and freelancer... The service will be $6,000 a year with 33% for the freelancer and the net is around $2,000
I will provide all the sales materials. Hopefully I will be able to sell 10 a month across the US.

Just using your as a blueprint to type mine out, hope you don't mind.

          Step 1

Determine what your major focus is this year.

My major focus for this year..hmm I guess that would be affiliate marketing. My real goal is to have about 5 or 6 affiliate sites set up, monetized, and automated. Bringing in about $1000 per month. Now that isn't much to do and set across 6 sites it would give me a health income of about $6000 per month which is very good for me (especially for my age..17). It would also give me the constant income I need to really focus on my internet marketing efforts and have a real business set up and outsourced before college starts in the fall.

My goal for this year is to start my web design offline business for small companies that need an online presence.

          Step 2

Realistically evaluate your strengths and weaknesses.

My strengths include working with people in the real world, away from the computer. Coming up with solutions for problems that i run into. Getting zoned into a project and not being able to stop until I get the result that I want to get. I also have a talent for setting up websites and building backlinks.

My weaknesses include, SEO, writing articles, email marketing (for now).

          Step 3

Develop a strategy to reach your goals based on your strengths.

My plan is to use autoblogs to achieve my affiliate goals. I put in the hours doing the research and creating the website and marketing. Content generation is automated and the sites are all niche targeted and monetized by relevant cpa banners and offers. Currently I am working on my first of 6 and building it to the $1000 mark. In order to somewhat automate marketing I am using an auto submitter and article spinner. Marketing methods are going to be article traffic generation, as well as search engine generation based on backlinks and SEO. Once I find that the autoblog converts then I will invest in running a PPC campaign, I will crunch the numbers to figure out how much I need in order to achieve $1000 per month in profit (after ppc costs).

While I am running these affiliate sites I am also brushing up on my HTML and CSS knowledge for my web design business. I am also testing various methods with a few clients that I already have.

          Step 4

Consistently maintain your strategy with a plan of action once you see some results.

Once I see results in my autoblog method I will be using PPC and paid traffic to turn a profit, while building my blogs standing with backlinks steadily over a 4 month period. This should raise my profits up to $1000 in each blog. Once each blog reaches the mark I will move on to the next and make sure to maintain each blog as well as figure out exactly how to automate everything that is possible to be automated.

          Step 5

Have a backup plan and a few other alternatives in case your strategy doesn't work as well as you hope.

If my autoblog methods do not succeed in some way (which I am sure they will) then I will turn completely to my web design business and actively market myself to local businesses that need an online presence. I will then come up with a proposal as well as different packages to offer that range from a basic package to a delux package. I will also market myself to handle a certain aspect of their marketing campaign (possibly email marketing or backlink building or geo targeted marketing) for a monthly fee in order to keep them in my funnel.

This is basically my plan so far for 2010. I know I am sort of split between two different things but right now affiliate marketing is my focus and I will only stray from this once I feel I have achieved what I set out to achieve or I feel that my effort could best be spent somewhere else.

            I don't mind at all.

This is the reason I put this blueprint here. So people can use it.

It feels good to know at least one person actually used my format to create a blueprint of their own.

Now you just have to stick to it!

In 2010 I plan to expand my consulting business. I am working in the Atlanta area as a business consultant, helping offline businesses increase their online presence. Right now I have a few clients, but of course I could always use a few more.

From talking to several successful marketing consultants in the area I can tell that branding yourself as a high quality business consultant is very important. While many people focus on the search engines (and rightfully so) word of mouth advertising is still very effective.

If I do a great job for each client and they tell 4-5 other business owners about my service, then I am going to have a ton of clients coming my way.

So, I reckon my business plan in 2010 is largely centered around branding myself as a top quality business consultant in the Atlanta area.

As a side income, I am going to outsource some of my affiliate marketing campaigns that made me a nice income in 2009.

Sounds like you have a good thing going!

By the way, I live in the Atlanta area as well and maybe we can catch up in the offline world some time.

I attend a bunch of events around Atlanta which is another way to brand yourself.

Connecting and networking with business owners is a great way to get clients in the offline market.

My business plan includes trying to come up with strategies that are straight-forward and have passive income potential. These can include producing ebooks, creating niche blogs/sites and monetizing them properly..than promoting using articles, ppc and forums etc..but i do have to rapidly drum up my ppc skills, any advice?

My business plan for 2010 is to actually finish my website and go live. I have been develping my membership website for a long time and am just about ready to launch. I want everything to be perfect, but I am thinking it will be very difficult. I should just launch and fix as I go, but I want to make sure it is done right. Oh yeah and once I launch I have a goal of 12,000 members by years end.

My advice is to pick one thing and take action.

If you want to "drum up" your PPC skills, then you need to put a heavy focus into doing just that.

From what I see, you don't seem to know exactly what you want your main focus to be.

If you want it to be perfect, you will never launch.

If you think it is going to be difficult, it probably will be.

I say just do it and make sure you do your best to make it better everyday after that.

Also if you give good customer service, your members won't care if it is perfect or not. You just need to make sure you give them more value than what they are paying.

But I like the fact that you want to do things the right way.

You just need to pull the trigger!

    Tommie,

This is a great blueprint! I really appreciate you sharing it and "paying it forward" as they say! My current focus is on offering marketing and consulting services to small business owners in my local area. It's a new area for me and creating a business and marketing plan is at the top of my "To Do" list.

I've been reading and learning a lot here on The Warrior Forum. My level of confidence has increased -- I just need to pull the trigger. Researching and pondering over having my own website up (and going strong) and having some nice business cards are currently consuming a lot of attention. I want to make a professional impression and establish come credibility. However, I'm fearful that I may procrastinate, then get distracted by the next shiny object!

I really need to create a good plan and stick to it -- accomplishing a couple of task every day that I can measure so I can track my progress and see myself advancing toward my goals.

I would like to make at least $5,000/month consistently within six months from today. I would also like to develop and monetize 6 other websites with goods and services related to my offline marketing and consulting services.

I would also like to thank the other Warriors who have so graciously shared their blueprints and business plans. I have found them motivating and inspirational.

My plan is to try and understand people even more. Understand their problems, how they feel and how I can help them.

Everything else is built on that

Confidence is a critical factor in your success.

Once you know your own value, your confidence will rise and so will your income.

It's a good feeling to be appreciated, so you are welcome!

Building relationships by helping people can transform your business.

When I stopped thinking about how much money I could make and started thinking about how much value I could create, everything shifted.

What you said here made me think of that!
