Hi everyone,

PLEASE NOTE: I am not interested in joining your business...so after reading this if you think you can help me please do not offer me your business. I like the one I'm in. I just need help.

My name is Adam Licata. I'm 20 years old and i have been working from home for 2 1/2 years now. Sadly I haven't made a single dime. I know one of the reasons I am failing. It's because my upline tells me 2 things....and I listen.
1.To make a list of my friends and family. I tried that and no one I know personally is interested. 2.This one your going to get a kick out of....my upline tells me...Not to market online He says its because it doesn't work...lol. Funny part is he makes 25k a month....I know hes telling the truth because hes one of my dads friends. I've seen his checks...anyway the reason I am making this post is because...I need someone to point me in the right direction. I need someone to teach me how to market online. Because I don't believe my upline. I have had a lot of people tell me to give up. But I'm not going to. If anyone thinks they can help me please send me a message or call me at 847-668-9525. I am sorry for posting this...I know you all probably get this exact post a lot.

Thanks From Adam

Don't bug your friends and family other than to let them know what you're doing. Only pitch to people who are actually interested in your business (likely NOT your family).

That said, MLM is a waste of time. You will make more money in a shorter period of time (sure as hell not 2.5 years) and with less costs by building up a list of buyers and selling them information. As an affiliate you won't be attached to one product maker, either. Also you don't have to recruit any downline.

Okay MLMers, go ahead and get defensive by telling me how wrong I am...

I agree with Daniel, get out of MLM.

Spending 2-1/2 years at it and not making a dime should tell you all you need to know.

Have to agree ... the only good thing about MLM was that it got me here.

Promoting to family and friends is pretty low (IMHO) ... all of a sudden your friends become your 'targets'.

    Good luck.

    a few questions...and I'm just curious...
    1. How many friends and family members have you actually talked to?
    2. How do you approach them?
    3. Do you have confidence in what you are selling?
    4. Does your upline provide specific training?
    5. I assume you are selling a product as well as trying to build a down line...how many products do you sell?
    6. I do not know your upline, but obviously if he is cashing $25K checks he must know something about the business. Are you really listening to him?

I'm not trying to be critical, but it looks like you might have someone who is actually trying to "teach" you something that you are not really interested in "learning".

If this is the case, then there is probably not much anyone here can do for you, you have to be able to learn and do, there is no easy way.

I think you need to make a clear business plan on how you will get leads. Just select one method of lead generation and then go with it until you get something out of it.

I can't really help you alot because I am not in MLM.

Goodluck BTW, I wanted to tell you that maybe MLM is not for you but you said that you like what you are into so I'd say just hang in there. Just try and stay away from information overload.

Sorry if I just sounded like an idiot but that's what I am when it comes to MLM

I'm no expert in MLM, but maybe you're in the wrong business?

2.5 years is a long time to go without making anything, perhaps you need to consider a change of direction.

    Adam,

I feel for you man. I also have a lot of respect for your fortitude. Here is my two cents.

1.) Forget the MLM and what your upline is telling you. Unless he is paying your bills you have no business listening to him. Its hard when your young and hoping someone will help you out, but this person clearly is not.

2.) Did I say forget MLM?

3.) You can make a lot of money in internet marketing, which is NOT mlm. I would focus your efforts there. There are many free resources which can get you started out. If you want links and places to get them, just PM me and I would be more than happy to share.

    Best,
    Neal

~1st, I am no MLM expert. I too have seen checks. some for $25,000, and their families do NOT talk to them anymore. Don't invite them to reunions or birthdays. Rich, and lonely guys. The people I know in MLM that make the most money (1mil+ a year) are the ones that do NOT market to their family AND DO market on-line. (they also have 'herds' that move with them from opportunity to opportunity... ) At some point, you run out of people to sell to. While some seem to make a good living at it, others either give up, or it just isn't in their DNA to be ABLE to do it. 2½ years and no sales? Time to get a DNA test!

    With that said,
if the MLM organization is selling a product that can be had cheaper and/or better elsewhere... It will end sooner or later. (usually sooner for ethical marketers and later for others.) For instance may of the webhost MLMs sell $3.50 products for $10 to pay the commissions, where as most travel MLMs get money kicked in from resorts and chamber of commerce's and can actually save a buyer more money than Captain Kirk, Lol.
