Do You Check Your Traffic Stats For Keywords?

Alright, I regularly check my traffic stats for my different sites, so that I know how people are getting to my sites, and in the search for new potential keywords.

Today I was kinda shocked.

For my personal blog, I got the expected ones, my name, some of my products, people trying to locate the thank you page for barter arbitrage etc. And then...one that just made me shake my head. 1.2% of traffic to my personal blog is peeps looking for sex pictures of me. I have never seen that one before.

Moral of the story, traffic logs and keyword source logs can be great to find new buyer keywords, as well as to know what exactly people are searching for when they land on your site. In some cases, it can work for you, such as presenting a term you wouldn't have thought of, other times it can give you a glance at the mentality and/or mindframe of people visiting your sites LOL.

    Yea, on my dance site I have 19,777 different key phrases. I actually get more traffic from keywords that I didn't even optimize for. I just keep growing the site, and the revenue and traffic grow with it.

      I'll take some of the keywords and use them as backlink anchor text to bump them up in the search engines a bit. Plus it gives you a way of having different backlink anchors than your main keyword.

        I use it to write new articles/posts for the site, great thing to look at when I just don't want to go through any keyword research.
