HELP PLEASE: My affiliate links are bringing a 404 error page!

4 replies
I just discovered that my redirect affiliate links on my site like this mysite.com/recommends/product bring up an error page in Firefox for Windows (3.57) that says (see attachments for screen capture):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HTTP - 404 Page Not Found
Sorry, you were looking for cannot be found.

We suggest you try again, edit the address, or click on one of the links below.

Search results for "keywords in my domain":

And then there are about 5 search results based on the keywords in my domain with a Yahoo search box at the bottom (see image attached).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But again, this ONLY happens on Firefox 3.57 for Windows! Firefox for Mac, Safari for Mac and Windows IE7 are okay.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can make this work properly on Firefox for Windows? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Steve

    You could use a different redirect script.
    It probably has something to do with the permission settings on your server for the script's folder. I used to have that issue with PLG all the time. I finally got rid of that script and used something different.

    How are you trying to do the redirect? Are you using an htaccess file?

    redirect 301 /old/old.htm http://www.you.com/new.htm

    or...

    <?php
    header( 'Location: http://www.yoursite.com/new_page.html' ) ;
    ?>

      Well, strange things do happen. Today I called my host to see if it was some weird hosting issue (without first checking to see if the problem was still there!) and now those links are working fine for Firefox for Windows - on my 2 Windows computers and on the host tech guys computer. Go figger! Anyway, thank you for your responses but it seems everything is okay now.

      Thanks again.

      PS: Since you asked, I create my affiliate links using a cool plugin called MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate.
