Dear Warrior,

I was having conservation on phone with my friend, and he quoted one thing from Bill Gates and then he gave the link to the newly built site by Bill Gates which i was not aware of:

so here it is:
The Official Site of Bill Gates - The Gates Notes

There are good reads like:
Bill Gates - Curious Classroom - Meet Secundaria Tecnica #12 - The Gates Notes

(Questions every one want to ask Bill when he left studies...)

  • Just spent about 10 minutes on it so far but what a pleasant site.

    I saw a tv program put together from exchanges between Bill Gates and Warren Buffett on one side and a bunch of school kids on the other side. One of Warren's comments was 'I can do almost anything that doesn't require athletic or mental ability.'

    The focus was just on a pleasant time with fun but it was nice that there was obviously something to learn too.
  • Another reason why I love you Mohsin. Thanks for sharing.

    I love how socially conscious he is.

    (As a side note, I find that site design REALLY awesome!)

    • Yes, it looks good, indeed.

      However, I found ironic that even his website has to add these lines to work properly:
      HTML Code:
       <!--[if lt IE 7]>
              <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/unitpngfix.js"></script>
      	    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/css/ie6.css" />
          <![endif]-->

    • Thanks for sharing this great site.
  • I'm ex-Microsoft, and one of the things that struck me while there (and, as a member of management, privy to many company secrets) was how open he was with his "secrets". While particular product features were often kept secret, the strategies Microsoft employed were out there for the world to see. Even the worst interviewer would get a dose of world-class strategy lessons, which were almost invariably not followed up on. Gates' principles have always been so elegantly simple that people probably thinking the real story was hidden. It's certainly what I thought before I joined. I was wrong.

    I can also tell you that no one ever ever ever pressured me to make decisions based on stock price or any similar "impure" motives. It always came down to developing great products.

    I have no financial interest in Microsoft anymore except maybe a few hundred shares left in some kind of retirement fund. Bill's politics are the opposite of mine. I think his writing is a crushing bore. I have many disagreements with Microsoft's strategies the last few years, and they have clearly become bureaucratic to a fault. But the corporate culture during my time there was exemplary. It was easily the most intimate-feeling, least political place I've worked in 30 years. I left a decade ago. Since then, in my worst year as an entrepreneur I've made 10 times what I made there, yet I still feel it was the best place I ever worked.

    You could do far worse than to follow Bill's strategies. If he has lots of good free content on his site, you're getting a massive bargain and a priceless education.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Other that an annual post and an occasional interview, it appears that he doesn't even write it!
  • Thanks for the links. I did not know that he is doing all that. It is a complete difference person that we know about in the old days. Thanks.

    • Nice share Mohsin!

      I'm a fan of Bill Gates - the fact that he's giving away so much dosh is astounding and it's already making a difference. Zambia has seen a 50% decline in deaths, thanks in large part to his funding. That's a lot of good he's doing...

      I also love The Teaching Company - now that's how to do information products... endorsed by Bill Gates to boot!

      @DR Mani - how did you find the course?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
