This EZA Goof May Be A Fluke But I Think It's Worth Exploring (Mystery Solved)

You're really going to want to pay attention to this because it may just
help you increase your views and clicks by a substantial amount.

Let me start out by saying that this was totally by accident and does need
more testing but it's something you may want to try.

I submitted an article to EZA under my usual category for this niche. I
already know what kind of a response I can get for the category. It isn't
great but it usually brings me about 2 or 3 new subscribers per article. I
can live with that.

Well, some editor, must be a new one, put the article in a different
category. Now, it's not like the category doesn't fit the article. It does.
But it's a category I would have never thought of to submit the article to.

Well, the views and clicks for this article are 6 times more than had it
been submitted to the usual category I use.

Given that not ONE article I have ever written for the original category
EVER got anywhere near this number of views and clicks, it must be that
this particular category isn't as competitive and/or has more people looking
in it for info.

I'll even give you the two categories so you can see how they relate.

Home-Based-Business
Business:Entrepreneurialism

You can see how these are related.

What I am going to do is start submitting my Home Based Business
articles under this new category and see if this wasn't a fluke.

Naturally, if you are writing acne articles there's no place else to submit
them to. But if you can find similar categories for the articles you're
writing, you might want to experiment with submitting under these
categories. Naturally, you want to make sure that they will actually fit
and there is no guarantee that, if an editor thinks it doesn't, that they
won't move it, but it is certainly worth a try.

A fluke like this may end up meaning the difference between 20 views
per article and 120 views per article. That could potentially increase my
subscribers from 2 or 3 per article to 12 to 18 per article.

Again, I am not making any claims here. This may very well be just one of
those fluky things, but it's certainly worth experimenting with different
categories to see if you can't get more views for your article by submitting
to a different category than the one you normally submit to for your niche.

** EDIT ** After doing some research, discovered that this article has
been retweeted like crazy at Twitter, thus explaining the increased views.

I've noticed that the EZA stats are screwed up today. At least the url clicks numbers are. I noticed it when I looked this morning and all the clicks numbers were lower than they were yesterday. If you download the csv the numbers appear to be ok but different to what are shown on the web page.

Just making sure that you haven't been fooled by dodgy stats :-)

Thanks Steve...no, I checked. These numbers are real. All my other articles
submitted and approved that day have my usual number of low views and
clicks. This one stands out and when I checked against my Analytics,
      they're right on the nose.

Okay, mystery solved. I just checked my Twitter account. People have
been retweeting this article like crazy. THAT'S why the skyrocketing views.

It probably has nothing to do with the category.

Just an unusually good article from me.

        Who'd a thunk it?

Oh well...back to the drawing board.

While this may have turned out to not be the case with Steve's articles he still brings up a good point. Categories can make a big difference. Some topics that include a variety of sub-categories you might want to test include health and fitness, IM, and Investing/Finance, to name just a few.

My articles never seem to fit neatly into any category anyway so they could end up anywhere lol.
