GDI Members...Once You're On Their List...It's Forever

I just thought I'd pass this along.

Once you join GDI or even express interest in their company and get on their
mailing list...it is FOREVER.

I have tried to unsubscribe from their database 10 FRICKEN TIMES ALREADY
and I am STILL GETTING EMAILS.

If I had the time to go after all their members, I'd contact every single one
of their ISPs INCLUDING the main GDI one and have these people shut down.

Sadly, they're not worth my time.

But...I felt I needed to warn ANYBODY who even expresses interest in them.

The unsubscribe link either doesn't work (even though it says you've been
removed from their database) or they just don't honor it.

Forewarned is forearmed.

    Steve,

I was wondering about that...you just confirmed my suspicion.

When you click the unsubscribe link, you are just taken to a basic html page where they "say" that your email has been unsubscribed. Truth is, it never registered in their data base...it's just words.

It irritates the heck out of me...been trying to get off their list for ages.

    What a bunch of losers.

I am really glad I never signed up for info all those years (?) ago. There was a time when I was hooked on traffic exchanges, and GDI always had auto-play audio on their sites - that irritated me enough to not sign up.

Anyway, don't know what that has to do with anything, except that I didn't like the way they presented their message. Perhaps, at a subconscious evel, it made me wonder what type of business they were running.

Have you tried reporting it as spam? That has worked in the past with a couple of other hard to leave lists that have been talked about here. Just a thought.

If you aren't using a web-based email address, Mailwasher works great. You just blacklist them and their emails won't get downloaded to your email program anymore.

Mailwasher is free, and really helps with email management.

I got off their list when I gave them a call.

GDI is something which I did not have a good impression of
      and probably would not promote.

Might try calling them - they'll ask you for your security
question though. So before calling them, be armed with the
      required information.

But I may just be talking about getting out of the GDI system,
      not the mailing list.

Well, I'm not a member of GDI, nor have I ever even opted in to get
any of their crappy emails. Everything I am getting is spam to begin
with, but that's another story altogether.

No, this is just a slimy operation.

There is no other way to describe it.

Their video presentation sells very well. Jaded marketers won't fall
for it and will keep away from it but newbies fall for it very often -
          namingly, myself.

Their emails are now sent to the junk mails in most of the emails
          services that I know of.

What ticked me off the most was that they had a policy that
people HAD to call their customer service in order to cancel
          their subscriptions.

Which is (as you put it) a slimy operation because they're not
making it easy for people to unsubscribe.
