Article Marketing or Forum posting

Hi Warriors,

Of late, I have been wondering whether I should write articles or do forum posting depending on ROI

Here is why..... My main goal is really to get paying clients either to join my mlm, buy my affiliate programmes, click on my google ads or make friends along the way.....

Through many consultations, I have come to learn that I get more business by participating in forums than articles, though I have not been able to track my articles very well. Most of my clients tell me that they have seen my forum posts, I see afew clicks from these articles to my site but I am not sure If they make for me money.

If you are to talk about writing articles, I am no a fast writer. I basically need a day to write a decent article and yet I can do about 100 forum posts or more in the same time.

Just wondering, what should some one really do to get the highest ROI
Thanks

The only way to really tell is to split test. It all has to do with your specific offer, your ad or text link, your article, the quality of the product, the popularity of the niche and a multitude of things.

Why not do both or outsource what you don't have the time to do?

Sounds like you should outsource your articles, since they are not your strong point. I wouldn't throw away article marketing altogether.

but article will bring your search engine traffic for years to come... forum posting tends to be short lived.. also try answers.yahoo.com too

Forum posting and Article submission are two different ways of link building. The values are different from each other. I don't think it is a good idea to compare them and state this method is more valuable than the other one. That is my point of view.

For an example, links from EZA and Goarticles will not only bring direct traffic but high value in SEO. Those backlinks get indexed by Google very fast.

Forum posts are great for short term traffic but just don't last very long, but I agree that they are completely different strategies. Ideally, you would do both.

Thank you all for your kind response. The answer is loud and clear, both since they serve different purposes.

Shane, I have been thinking about outsourcing. I tend to do too much myself, I should consider this option....

Speaking of which, I learned from these forums today that you can write an article for your website and then submit the same article to article directories. That means my task should not be hard because I have several articles on my site. I just need to make a few changes and submit them to these article directories.

Okay, I promise to submit another article by end of tomorrow

The only thing you need to change are your links, you can submit them to article directories unchanged (except buzzle) good luck!

Do both, my recommendation focus on articles more on the SEO side of it, do your keyword research, and forum posting is just target traffic too.

I know fully well that article marketing will bring you both traffic and money for years particularly if your article is unique and timeless than forum posting. However, always do the two for backlink purposes.

According to me, both the processes is having their equal importance accordingly and these are the main processes that are done to get traffic and also plays very important role in bringing site on the top of SERPS and in getting quality backlinks.

Forum posting is a very good source for getting traffic and also to get backlinks too.

On the other hand Article marketing is too beneficial in getting traffic.

If you want to know more about these processes you can visit my signatures.

I've had even success in posting as well as article writing. But the post above about "tenure" of an article is spot on.

I disagree with articleprince about forum traffic not lasting long. They last. They will not last if only you are spamming the forums and your links are being deleted.

My advise to the OP is to by all means do both. Article marketing brings more traffic than forum posts ( my opinion ) but 2+1 will only amount to 3 and not 2.

I think you should do both. Forum posting is heavily dependent on the quality of your posts and your reputation in the forum as well. It can bring a quick short-term boost in traffic if you utilize it properly though.

I'd concentrate a bit more on article marketing though, because I think you are rewarded with residual income from that which will definitely surpass what you get from forum posting alone, in my humble opinion.

I would suggest that you use both methods but i prefer article marketing because it is a long term strategy if you rank the articles high in the search engines.

Forum posting can sometimes get you quick bursts of traffic but seem to fizzle off quicker. But if i was you i would split test them to see what the results are like.

From your experienc forums seems to be working best. Good for you, it is quite difficult to track articles. Article directories provide you with info on the number of people that visit your article and in some cases click too.

However, you can not rule out the power of article marketing. Note most successful entrepreneurs combine numerous/various marketing method.

For your writing culture - practise makes perfect. We all started from somewhere. If i can write over 20 articles in one week then you can. I never thought i could do well in article writing, maybe persistency has taken the place of talent.

I am a newbie who did make money in 2009 on a very..very..part time basis. Article marking did make me money but forum postings can be great way to get traffic and links(which i discovered recently on this forum) I never had a link in 2009

I would say do the forum posting. Why? Because you like it. Everybody is NOT a writer. As an example I do not like squidoo but I got traffic from them. So i do not use squidoo. I cannot use a site I do not like even if it brings traffic. I refuse to update the lens. I think you will only get back what you put positive energy into. Why articles if you hate them, you could be the queen of the forums...or videos...or podcast...do not do articles because everyone says so.

There was a time when everyone did squidoo lens now it has died out. Do what you love ...Forums

This could be a good idea. I wouldn't say that I don't like writing. I have written over 100 pages for my site, even posting in the forums needs writing. Was just wondering where to get the best ROI. I agree both methods have their place. if I spend a week without posting in forums, there is a big difference in my stats.

I will try to balance and do both. I learned a trick from here how to leverage articles on your site and create article for directories. I submitted two yesterday:-(

I purchased an ebook the other day and the guy was talking about forum posting and how if you target the correct forum you would get tons of traffic to your sites and also backlinks. I never did forum posting but after reading his report I am going to try it.

    Why not do both?

Do your forum posts, and use some of the profit to pay for articles since it is your weak spot.

    Problem solved

As for forum posting, if you want to get a lot of traffic, you need to choose 10 forums, and post at least 10 posts per day.

It's fun in the beginning, but later on, you need to outsource this.

As for article marketing. It works, so submit at least one article per day, and make sure to build our list.

I would go for article writing as it has more longevity, better for ranking and you can also turn your articles into a course. I am going to from writing a short ebook to turning it into articles!

I will go with article marketing, although it takes little long time to generate traffic but it is longliving as compare to forum posting which is for short term.

Okay, I have over 700 articles live at ezinearticles.com, and at the time of this post I think I only have like 15 posts or so

I think both have advantages and disadvantages. With article marketing I normally write articles of around 400 words or so. These articles are short, to the point, and get me traffic. I want to build credibility with articles, which is what I have done in several niches.

I have just started taking forum posting seriously, because only recently after co-consulting a big project with a high profile Atlanta based internet marketing consultant do I have enough knowledge to feel like I can contribute a ton and truly help people online. Forum posting is great because you are already in a community with hundreds and sometimes thousands of people who may already be interested in what you have to offer.

My only advice with article marketing and forum posting is to post/write good content, so that people will want to see what you are all about. At the end of the day, it is all about branding yourself (at least for me it is). With the business model I have in place if I get just 5-10 clients per month I make a great living, which is why I focus my efforts on combining article marketing and forum posting to brand myself.

I think you should focus on forum posting since you are good at it, but try to write at least 3 articles a day, they don't have to be long, you can write a 250 word article and it can bring you a lot of traffic, the most important thing is the quality.
Just try to put make it short and put good information in it, that is all.

If my goal was strictly sales, I'd go for the forum postings because you know exactly where your target audience happens to be.

Article marketing has it's place of course, but for some niche's forums are a better bet overall
