Tuesdays are the best time to send an email?

For me, I have always found Tuesdays to be one of the best days to send out an email. On Mondays people are often getting back to work, and they have a lot of email to go through, and may be more likely to delete without reading. If I send it on Tuesday, they have the rest of the week to think about what I sent, and may have some possibility of taking some action.

On the other hand there are some "weekend warriors" who have more free time to work on building themselves a business and quit their day job on the weekends, so in that case I would think earlier in the day on Friday would be the best time to send the email.

Any thought on best days to send emails?

    Hi - yes I think Wednesday afternoon is my best time - like you said Monday everyone has loads to go through and get on with the week - I find Tuesday is a meeting and to do day and by Wednesday people are happier (2 days till weekend) and tend to read their emails and act on them right away !

    Over the years I've found that Tuesday and Thursday tend to be the best mailing days for most lists. In some cases though, Saturday can pull a surprising amount of response because like you've said: Part time/start up businesses, and even just general consumers, seem to use Saturday as the time to catch up on the week's email.

    After testing on multiple days, here are my results.

    Mondays seems to get the worst results and the most unsubscribes and AOL SCOMPS (aol users hitting the "spam" button).
    Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays get the fastest clicks in the shortest time. For me, mid week is amazing.
    Friday, Saturday and Sunday are not options for me. The people we tend to email are working professionals that spend their weekends with family. As a result, any emails sent between Mon-Fri appear to become Monday morning deletions.

    One thing I always find amazing is how old emails still get clicks. I'm talking about emails from 5-6 months ago.

    For the record, I'm sending health-related email blasts on a monthly basis to a list of 7000+. Open rates are 23-30% and clickthru rates are roughly 8-10%. I average around 30 unsubscribes per blast.

    I read Mark Joyner's CIIM, in it, he stated he had found Friday afternoon to be the most profitable time for him to send out promotions, and he found that Tuesday produces the worst results for him.

    But he had also stated that everybody is different and just because
    that's his results doesn't mean you have to follow them religiously.

    Also, I have found that most of the big launches are done on
    a Tuesday. So it could be right for you.

      For me, best days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

      And it also matters where we are in the current month.

      Early in month - been paid, monthly bills all paid, have spare money.

      Later in month - money all spent, tightening belt.

      And holiday times are also good for response, I find.
