Articles Sites besides Ezines

I've submitted a few articles to Ezines, but want to branch out to other directories.

Just wondering which ones are currently considered the best. Or do they all pale besides Ezines in terms of effectiveness, so it doesn't really matter which ones you use?

    The important question here is:
What do you want the articles to be published for, are they for search engine rankings, are they for promoting your affiliate programs or just need to sell your products
Because for each of these the article marketing strategy adopted need to be different.
For search engine rankings, you need backlinks and for that reason you need each article to be published in 100's if not 1000's of places, and need each article to give you a backlink, then here the strategy needs to be to send in unique versions of article to each directory.
But if you are selling affiliate products or needs to sell your own products, then what you need is to rank these article directory pages on top in SERP's, here in this case you need to give quality to each article and publish in few high PR directories and build backlinks to these article pages, this helps creating a reputation for your product as well as bring converting traffic to your affiliate landing page.

Now the strategy changes and article directories changes depending on the kind of product you are selling.

Thanks cashisfilthitakecheck, so... since this is my only reason for submitting articles you're saying I should alter each article or no link juice for me?

I'm gonna catch hell for saying this but nofollow doesn't stop me at all

if nofollow doesn't work... why are my nofollow sites getting my stuff indexed.

I'm not gonna give you the links for my reasons for saying this (my local competition might see them) but certain nofollow sites still *improve* my situation.

I can't categorically prove that googlejuice is getting passed, I'm not sure why some nofollows *perform* better than others

all I can say is (IMNSHO) it doesn't seem to matter one way or the other.

I treat em all the same.

Catfish-I don't agree that you need your article published in thousands of places. Realistically, there are probably 10-15 directories that carry 80% or more of the possible link juice out there.

From a time management perspective, I think your best bet is to submit to 5-10 of the top directories (once it is approved at EZA) and if you want more, use a free service like Free Traffic System to syndicate it.

Instead of spending time submitting to a thousand directories, spend your time creating more content.

You have to remember that it's not just about getting high ranking back links... it's also about getting a lot of back links. The more the better, regardless of page rank but of course higher rank sites do have more power.

Google likes to see that your site is popular and that doesn't come just from being listed on high rank sites.

      Catherine...

The article directories you choose to actually promote your products will depend on the niche you're marketing. Some directories are more suited to one type of article or might attract the right kind of traffic for you. I've had better luck with SearchWarp.com for health-related niches and less with internet marketing.

Ideamarketers brought more traffic for my business-related articles and less for my health topics.

You can do some digging yourself in the various directories to see the types of articles being published there, the readership of those articles, and how many of those types of articles. If the site is packed with business and IM articles and has fewer in other niches, it's safe to assume you'd get better traffic with business-related articles.

I've got a Free Article Directory List with notations on which ones have support that answers (some of them ignore inquires)

I've found some of them are rather hard to get an answer from, your article "says" it's approved but search for it and it's not.

Many people miss the actual real helpful article directories because they focus on those myths such as high pr and alexa traffic. Many follow these myths because they are told to follow them and just like a blind person the follow in hopes of getting what they want.

Just because joe guru says "x" directory is the best does not make it the best. Just because you seen a video or read an ebook on how great "x" directory is does not mean it is great.

When you blindly follow and do not go out there and test for yourself then you lose out and lose out big time. Alexa rankings means "0" and PR means "0" because the fact is alexa cannot in anyway tell a sites true traffic and PR does not mean top rankings.

I much prefer to deal with an article directory that cares about it's authors and is going to be there 5 years from now. I much prefer to give my content to someone that is not going to slap a billion adsense ads all over it causing me to lose sales and visitors. I much prefer to deal with a article directory that is up with the times and grows each and every month offering me as an author useful tools that can help further my business..

But this is just me and just my opinion ....

    James

P.S. EZA is not the be all and end all .....

I agree MarkAse with your statment you "don't need your article published in thousands of places. Realistically, there are probably 10-15 directories that carry 80% or more of the possible link juice out there."

While we also submit articles to thousands of sites we primarily do it because our customers expect it. It won't hurt anything but submitting to low page rank run-of-the-mill sites is probably not going to be of much benefit in terms of traffic or rankings in my opinion.

Many submission services also submit your articles to blogs and niche sites. If you can publish your articles on blogs (regardless of page rank) specific to your niche then that is a really good thing.
