Flippa definition - Am I taking this too literally?

I was looking at an interesting site for sale on Flippa.

The description said:

Designed is claimed to be unique
(created especially for this site)

The seller did say there were a limited number of similar sites out there (8 others - limited release)

I asked him about the claim of unique design and he responded:

"Its a limited release, there will be eight of them in total. That's about as 'unique' as it gets for what your getting and this price point, otherwise it would be way to expensive."

Am I taking this too literally? To me unique design created especially for this site means - just that.

If I'm being a pill... just say so.

Exactly KIM - I'm going with unique is unique - but, clearly the seller disagrees.

I agree that unique means there is only ONE out there.

When I make "unique" themes for my websites I make a brand new theme for that site and that site only!

I think that seller is just getting confused maybe? Or he is just trying to grab your attention by saying that it is unique, that way he can get more sales.

May be he is just playing with words.

The design is unique for that website. Its just that he'll sell the WEBSITE 8 times

Unique is unique..there is no copy word for unique.

if a site has duplicates then there is no unique word for it. You should not come in other person's fraud.

"The rarest pistol in the world, Larry. A.45 Luger. Only six of 'em were ever manufactured."
This quote is from the movie "Wall Street".

So, 45 Luger has a unique design. There is no other pistol in the world who looks exactly the same.

Only 6 copies were ever manufactered, so only 6 persons have a pistol that features the 45 Luger design.

Is the 45 Luger design unique, even if there are 6 copies of it? Yes.
The design itself is unique. The copies are not.

Yeah - I'm not buying it. In addition to the semantic discussion, there is also the implication that the seller is the developer - yet seller's name and telephone number do not match whois registration.

The kicker for me was finding a different Flippa seller - selling the same type of site (this one's description does not claim unique design and Flippa detects 35 copies) otherwise the sales copy is similar - and the DESIGN is identical to my first seller (same graphics, same layout) - the only thing unique is that the text portion of the design is changed to accommodate the new domain name. I didn't check the copy for uniqueness.

I am an individual who owns a company. Some domain are registered on my name, using my personal phone number, while others are registered on my company's name, using my company's number.

My Flippa account is registered on my (personal) name. So, if I sell one domain registered on my company's name and phone number will not match my name and my phone number.

I don't say this is the case for the seller you are talking about. But, it's something you might take into consideration as a posibility.

Limited editions are not unique and he is scamming anyone who believes that. When I buy a Unique product from Flippa, I expect that I am the only one who will own it. He's just plain lying. Not unusual for some sellers on Flippa. There's a lot of PLR crap being sold as unique. I saw one go for $125 that I found at tradebit for .50 cents. Reflects poorly on Flippa and gives sellers a bad name even if they don't do things like that.

I think this has been answered, but unique means unique, one of a kind, never to be repeated, a unicorn.

Not multiple copies all over the bloody place :p

Actually unisex usually refers to being able to be used by either sex.

of, designed, or suitable for both sexes; not distinguishing between male and female; undifferentiated as to sex: unisex clothes.

Unisex = while the term 'uni-' is from the Latin 'unus' meaning 'one', the term seems to have been influenced by words such as 'united' and 'universal', meaning that the 'uni-' prefix takes on the definition of 'shared'. In this sense, it can be seen as meaning 'shared by both sexes.
