Well, I've been using scrapebox to generate visits to my ezinearticles. Has anyone else come across this page? Is this account toast? Suspended? Are they likely to accept my request to restore access? I wanted to try out this software and see how far I could push it. I guess I know now, huh?

You are browsing EzineArticles.com faster than a normal human would.

You may be seeing this page for one of the following reasons:

* You have performed too many searches in a short period of time.
* You have requested too many pages in a short period of time.
* You have exceeded the daily allowable limit of page views.
* You have used a script or program to scrape content or keywords.

If you feel this is in error, please fill out the following form:

I'm curious whether EZA will forgive these transgressions. It would be a shame to lose that account, my articles are converting very well. I had to take more aggressive actions after the competition pushed 2 of my articles right off the Most Viewed list in 24 hours.

Has anyone recovered from this?

I can only guess, but I seriously doubt that they will restore your account if you used automation to inflate your page views.

Just tell them you have no idea why they blocked you.

Similar thing happened to me using a diff. app and they restored me pronto.

They said someone must have been using a bot from my IP neighborhood.

Thanks for the reassurance, folks! I was able to access my articles from another location.
I think you are right. I will get access restored otherwise there would be a notice stating that the account was suspended. At least, I assume they would do that.

I must say with all the WSO's going around teaching how to dominate the Most Viewed and Most Published columns on EZA, some categories have turned into outright bloodbaths!

Some of my competitors have 2 day old articles with 13,000 views. Definitely something hinky going on there, wouldn't you agree?

And I have read these articles and they scan like technical manuals. Boring, crappy writing, I doubt they convert well, yet they have deep pockets for buying traffic.

Now, my articles do convert. Of the 5 I have submitted so far in that niche, 3 of them convert at over 17% and one is it 23.6%!

So I found it necessary to defend that little patch of virtual real estate. There's good money at stake here.

Sometimes, when the gloves come off...the black hat has to go on.

If you do plan on using ScrapeBox to inflate your views you should be using proxies...

Is there money involved? I feel that is just an automation tool which runs for free...?

Well, this has certainly become a lively thread! I really posted this as a warning to other warriors that may be tempted to use this method.

Note: I did use proxies - over 250 of them.

Paul - thanks for your response. You should dispense with the name calling - makes you sound a little pompous.

I am always willing to try new things and I will continue to do so.
If I made a mistake,so be it. I can't speak for anyone else but that's how I learn.

This was a test EZA account and I didn't jeopardize my Platinum account and I made a profit. So, all things considered, it worked out okay.

Worst case scenario: That account gets suspended. I spin the articles and resubmit to a different account.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about that. Thanks for the responses!

Just because it is taught in a WSO does not mean it is "legal" to do or advisable.

It is these exact methods that have caused Ezine to tighten the reigns.

Sorry to tell you - but if you are going to follow methods that are sneaky like this and you get caught, it is your own fault.

I seem to remember reading that you are only allowed one account. What is up with this "test" account thing?

Why do we encourage such pathetic marketing strategies!?

David, you've been around the warrior forum now long enough to know better.

      I ask just this question...

Aren't your "articles" good enough to be read by real people? Who gives a s*** about what your 'competitors' do?

Forgive me for being so blunt, but -

Write quality, submit wisely and think of being in business for the LONG TERM, not just here and now.

Recently I was looking at the stats for a free eBook I published back in 2003 - almost 50,000 downloads (from just one website) and thousands of other different sites / blogs/ forums also giving it away.

(See: Webmasters JavaScript Toolbox 2003 - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com )

Why? Because I was thinking outside of the box and outside of the year.

And even though my website was offline for 2 years recently while I was ill, the traffic KEPT COMING, I couldn't turn it off if I wanted to. All because I focused of LONG TERM not short term.

Here's an idea for you -

      (1) Take a whole bunch of your own articles (the best ones), compile them into an eBook, and give it away for free.

      (2) Choose half a dozen of the best of those articles and record audio video tutorials to go with them. They can be downloaded from links within the eBook.

      (3) Add about half a dozen clickbank links in also to related products...

      (4) Make the eBook brand-able so that people giving it away can place their own Clicbank links in and they'll want to give it away for you.

Note: Make it QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY. So damn good that people should have paid for it - and give it away for free.

Final Question - How do YOU make money from it?

The links that go back to your website are yours to keep all the cash from. (Or) Link in another 'Special Report', a 'How to', some other back end to build a database; whatever -

Better yet, plug in your own affiliate program linking to your own product so that people who are giving away the eBook for you will also go and join YOUR affiliate program. (Make it yours, not just CB links, that way you can also build your database).

And so on and so on and so on.

THAT'S how you get traffic and income from articles in the real world; this year, next year and for the decade to follow.

      Paul Barrs

PS. Side note... I've only had my site back online for 8 weeks and don't yet even have any product back up... but checking my 404 stats showed that last month almost 1400 clicks came through from my old affiliate program and dead links in old eBooks. Part of my work now is to rebuild those relationships and put it all back together. Point being, do it right and you'll never be able to STOP the traffic!
Thank you Paul. you sure opened my eyes a lot with this info.

It is pretty fishy that some people could have 13,000 views on a two day old article. You'd think they'd something like that. I guess the problem with that is the fac that you could try to harm competitors that way

I received the exact same notice a year ago or so.

Just responded with... "I utilize your website extensively for research for various projects. I assure you I am human and not a bot of any sort."

Something along those lines and it my ip was unblocked right away.

    Never had a problem since.

I think anything that resembles or follows an unnatural pattern is going to raise a few red flags. Slowly but surely always win the race, haven't you heard the story of the Tortoise and The Hare?, funny how fairytales can have real world applications, who would have thought?

    Good luck with your account.

they did not ban your account, just your IP. reply telling them someone was doing term paper and that might have caused it. your daughter. That worked for me.

Also people should know the ezinearticles owner is among us, same as google people. How do you think they catch on so fast to the next best promotion tool.
